I was trying to think of *any* radio control application we used; I think there's a couple offered for industrial shunters now but I can't remember anything else.

Hmm, well, there was the RETB system in the 1980's they used in Scotland on the Class 37's working the Highland lines, but, unsure if they use this system now that all passenger trains are multiple units instead of locomotives and the implementation of the TPWS.

That's not actual remote control though :) just a radio token instead of a physical one. I think RETB just got killed off because someone wanted the radio frequencies back - ETCS+GSM-R should work just fine instead anyway.

Yes, that's true Sir, I don't think radio controlling between locomotives would ever work in Britain anyway as our consists are far too short and there's really no need for it, even with 30 set Freightliner trains, we'll leave it for the Americans to play with....... !*roll-laugh*!

The Netherlands is using Remote Control on some of their cargo engines in the yards, so they do not need 2 people on the trains, as the engineer can control the engine from the other end of the train.
