Ryan, you can test this by going into the route editor and changing the weather and see if that fixes your problem. If it does you are in fact missing something. Additionally what video card do you have?

I was not trying to load a scenario I was just going through route editor to get to the scenario editor. (I know that's not how you get to scenario editor.) But when I looked up the sky was black but everything else seemed to be perfectly fine. There is no missing items and I do not get any errors when I load the route up for me to run.

Ok I will give that a go when I get home. I'm surprised I never thought of that myself. !DUH!

And also, I have a GeForce GTX 460 graphics card.

It sounds like the marker is underground so when you look up the ground is black. Try clicking on the marker and press the J key. If it moves up then you are under the terrain.
