I'm still working on the cab, but it's going slowly.

Here's the latest update to the Allegheny and Blue Ridge. (I made a correction to the pilot 2 days ago) It's a fairly large file - 683MB. The cab is still in the works.

mikeadams2k wrote:Here is a preview of my progress on the Allegheny cab. Still a lot to do and I'm slowed by constantly going back and making changes or corrections to what I've done so far. I'm trying to do the animated items first and getting the fire 'burning' is my latest step. I'll add static objects such as pipe and valves later. As I said previously, this is all new to me and I'm just stumbling along. It's not meant to be scale, but a representation of the Allegheny cab. Since I'm working from photos, I'm estimating the size of objects and taking some liberties with the details. As you can see, texturing and shading is also a relatively new step for me. The speedometer reads a little faster that the speed in the HUD. It starts to sync about 40mph. I spent about a day trying to fix it, then decided I should keep building and hold off on fixing this and other issues I'm encountering. I can work on those later. When I first took this on, I had no idea if I would be able to get the animation working, much less finish it. Now, I'm encouraged and feel that I can finish it. It won't be in a class that many of you are used to or expect, but It's been a fun exercise for me and I'm learning quite a bit. Hopefully some will get some enjoyment out of it. Here is a screenshot of the cab in Blender and a video of it in game.
The route is the Allegheny 5 at Ronceverte, westbound. If you're not familiar with this route, you'll see some moving 'artifacts' out the engineer's window. These are a bug in the route, not the cab.
