When I try to run a scenario or try to edit/create a scenario, I get a "ERROR:Not a serialized binary file" message (see picture below). I had no issues with the previous version of Connellsville to Sandpatch. I have tried re-downloading/re-installing both the Mediafire files and those offered by Ottodad. I also validated my files through Steam with no success. Anyone have a possible solution?

have you downloaded the Connellsville to Baltimore beta 6 fix

Have you tried deleting the route and re-install it

i think it's because the scenarios got corrupt

I am going to place the decals up to Green Springs and then lay the tracks

Being as the track level is at 173.8 i will have to drop down to 166.1 at Green Springs so i will have to figure where to start the down grad

Hi, Thomas. I've been trying to create a scenario based on the Cumberland-to-Meyersdale 80-car coal drag you gave me the link to and I've been experiencing a lot of SBHH. It seems to happen at random times. The latest time I created a new "Standard" scenario, got to the Cumberland yard, added 80 CSX hoppers, and it seized before I could add any power to the consist. I plan to have the simulation back story say that the train has arrived and two engines are already attached. I will bring a third engine from elsewhere in the yard, couple, and bring to the tipple at Meyersdale. Still working on operational details, but I can't get past the SBHH. Any ideas?
I really like this route and I'm looking forward to your added phases.

Best,
Marc

Edit:
Just tried to edit the scenario again and I can't even get into it before I get SBHH. I hope there's a solution. Looking forward to your suggestions.

In the scenario did you pay attention to the timetable editor?
If something is wrong it will show up there.

Never had the chance to get to the Timetable Editor because I couldn't add an engine with the driver added. The timetable editor only works if there's a drivable engine, either player or AI.
Good thought, though. I've discovered a lot of scenario problems by using the T.E. That's the tool I use to actually construct my scenarios. It's invaluable for determining timing of AI trains and resolving timing conflicts.
Thanks, Glenn. *!!thnx!!*

Is it a particular loco giving the SBHH? If others do not then could be a corrupt file for that loco/

Hi, Chris. I've had that thought as well. In one of my last attempts though I didn't get the chance to add any locos and it still gave me SBHH. I just reconfigured my gamer desktop over the past couple days and had to re-download all of Steam and TS2012 so I'm going to see if a fresh install will help at all.

Thanks for the suggestion!

where are you in the yard?

because for some reason I can not create a free roam scenario between Mexico and the hump do not know why but i can not figure it out

I can place a scenario anywhere else in the yard except that area

do not know if that has a bearing or not to your problem

Hi, Thomas. I'm placing 80 CSX hoppers, empty, on Cumberland Departure Track 4, along with 2 CSX SD40-2s. An additional CSX SD40-2 (the player loco) will be picked up on Engine Storage Track 1 and driven to couple to the drag on the departure track.

Don't know if this helps you, but I can't even get to add all the locos before I go SBHH. The hoppers take up about 75% of the departure track, maybe more. They encompass the bend in the departure track. I usually place 40 by clicking, then select that consist, copy it, and paste so I can add it to the back of the original 40 to make 80 cars.

Best,
Marc

Can you do the same thing in free roam

Just for the H*** of it try ES44's and see if you get the same problem

I will try the same that you set up but mine will be in free roam also (Which CSX coal hopper are you using)

Hi, Thomas. Here's what I did last night. I started a Free Roam scenario at Cumberland Yard. Placed 80 CSX hoppers on Departure track:

Added 3 CSX ES44ACs:

2012-09-18_00004.jpg

I made several intermediate saves in this process just in case it threw up on my desk, then ran it from the editor. Here's what it looks like right before proceeding:

2012-09-18_00005.jpg

Here's RW_Tools' list of stock used:

Kuju\RailSimulatorUS\railvehicles\diesel\es44ac\csx 727\engine\es44ac_csx 727.bin
Kuju\RailSimulatorUS\railvehicles\diesel\es44ac\csx-5436\engine\es44_bnsf.bin
Kuju\RailSimulatorUS\railvehicles\freight\coalhopper\csx\wagon\coal_hopper.bin

I was able to drive it successfully up to and through the Fairhope tunnel. That's where I saved the scenario to continue it today. It did seem to run well enough, low frame rates notwithstanding. Next steps are to drive to Yoder, back into the mine at Meyersdale, then load the hoppers. This is where Part 1 of the scenario will end. I intend to place a caboose on the siding that needs to be picked up on the way to the tipple per the prototype.
Part two will begin at Yoder with the added power, three more CSX locos making up the player train in this part. You will drive down to the coal train, now loaded, haul it out of the mine siding to the Yoder siding, decouple your three added engines, run around to the front, couple back up and drive to Cumberland Yard where the scenario will end.
Each part will take between 60 and 90 minutes, I estimate.

It seems that the locos may be at fault, I'll have to try a new Standard scenario with these changes. I'd like to use the SD40-2s, but maybe they won't work. I don't recall if there's a CSX Geep (7 or 9) available, haven't checked lately. That might be fun to add for power as well.

I don't know if this helps you in any way, but it's my experience with a free roam as you asked. Next I will try a Standard scenario with the new engines, after I finish driving this free roam.

If I like the way it works I might release the scenario for general use once I document it completely.

Best,
Marc

I am still using Free Roam and i was able to lash up 80 CSX Coal cars (not the same one you used) with 3 CSX SD40-2 downloaded from this site
was able to run and come out of the yard with no problems

I will take a stabe at doing it in standrad (Never did one in that mode before) anything i should know before i do one in that mode

Nothing special, other than you have to assign a destination to the player train, either using the driver icon or the Timetable Editor. Using the T.E. you can do a lot of fine-tuning of timings for your player train and AI trains. Interested to see if you find it a useful tool.

I tried finishing the run up to the mine, but I got a consist tilt trying to back up into the mine siding. I need a LOT more practice backing up a looooonnggg train... !*roll-laugh*!
