Modern Boxcars/Gondola

Hi,

Finally, the TS2012 update of the Modern Boxcars/Gondola pack is here!

As discussed here: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=4616
and here: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=4617 ,
this is now a freeware pack including the old models with TS2012 corrections and vastly improved LODs, but without any detailing enhancements except for new trucks. These models do look terribly old!

Customers who bought this pack will get free access to an upcoming new Modern Freight pack once this is done (I'm already working on it).

You can download the pack here:
http://golden-age-rails.com/freightcarp ... ight1.html
EDIT on Feb 9: Please redownload if you downloaded the cars before today, the first package file was missing the shape and bin files! Sorry!!!

It comes as RWP file, I'd recommend uninstalling the old version first as the new one makes several files of the old pack redundant. However, you can safely install the new pack on top of an older version too.

A repaint update kit is also included. This should work with all the dozens of repaints that are out there.

Have fun with the cars.

Cheers,
Michael

Strange I got a missing texture error when I put some NS repaints on the rails.

Edit: !**duh*!! forgot to put the updated textures and other stuff.

Edit2:deleted it because only the NS repaints were showing **!!bang!!**

Does this mean the old models are included with this freeware update or do they need to have the previously purchased package files in order to use the update? !*don-know!*

Thanks

Hi,

The new models work with the repaints. So you don't need any of the old shape files, the new package is all you need to get the repaints working.

By the way, I finally completed the packaging and uploaded everything: http://golden-age-rails.com/freightcarp ... ight1.html

Cheers,
Michael

Thanks Michael.

When I DL last night I saw no model files or blueprints in the installed folders, just texture files. Maybe I jumped the gun on the DL. I'll check out your site tonight and download the package from there.

I've been looking forward to getting these since I first came to RailWorks when RW3 was released. Also looking forward to your future Modern Freight Pack when its released.

Regards

Don

Hi,

You are absolutely right, the package on my website, and also the first one on mediafire, came without Geo and BIN files!
**!!bang!!** **!!bang!!** **!!bang!!**

As it turns out the cars were "protected assets" in my folders, so naturally I could not package them. A uninstall/rebuild from asset editor later I now could, so please redownload the package from my website if you downloaded it before now.

Cheers,
Michael

Hello Michael,

Thank you for updating these wagons, I did want to ask you, I'm a bit confused, in each asset folder you have a folder named _Repaint-Update_TS2012, is this where we put our repaints, and all of the files, bin file, geopcdx files, etc, please ??

Hi,

The _Repaint-Update folders are there so you can easily copy&paste all the needed files into the repaints' folders. When you install a repaint, you will usually get a number of railroad-named subfolders next to the three "default" ones in the Boxcars and Gondolas folders. In these new folders you simply paste the contents from the _Repaints-Update folder, including the "Textures" subfolder (YES to overwrite).

Cheers,
Michael
