Rock Island Bulkhead Flats and Flatcars

Unread postby mindenjohn » Thu Nov 06, 2025 6:50 am

Repaints of Great Northerner's Allegheny 48ft BHFs and GSC 53ft BHFs and Flatcars with removable loads.
There are 6 x 48ft BHFs (1MT and 5 loaded) plus 9 x 53ft GSC BHFs and 3 x 53ft GSC flatcars all with loads. The MT 48ft should have "logs" load but I cannot get it to work, if anyone can help it's welcome.
Pictures taken in Bedford Junction Yard. The engine terminal seen in the "48ft" shot is my own extension/modification.
The freight cars will be submitted to the library this weekend.

I have now discovered why the GreatNortherner\Allegheny 48ft and 53ft BHF cars with Log load do not show the load. The easy solution is to go to the Assets flyout at top right of screen, scroll down to Kuju and check "TrainSimulator" as well as "TrainSimulatorUS". There is a single case in the .bin file which aliases to TrainSimulator and not to TrainSimulatorUS. I will prepare patches for all of the road names in my assets list (quite a few) and post them initially here but also to the RWA library for those who do not want to have "TrainSimulator" checked.
For those adept at read/write to .bin files here is the modus operandi:
Go into the relevant car file, find the gsc-flatcar logs.bin, open with TS Tools. Ctrl-F and enter in top box "Interactive", click on "Find", look immediately above the highlighted word and you will find the Product listed as "TrainSimulator" change this to read "TrainSimulatorUS" , Save and close. Job done - for that car. See the pic below.

EDIT: See next post - The Patch is within and it has also now been submitted to the RWA Library.
EDIT 2 : This alias dates back to 2009 so is probably of the original posting when Kuju\TrainSimulator needed to be checked to get most scenic items which later became available (and more) via Kuju\TrainSimulatorUS..

The attached file contains patched .Bin files for 48ft and 53ft BHf cars in the GreatNortherner Allegheny assets folder. The patch enables the "LOGS" load to be visible on the 48ft and 53ft cars.
Extract the file and then copy and paste into your assets folder. If and when it asks if it should overwrite click on YES. If you don't have the originals and don't want the patches drill down in the extracted folder and delete those you do not want. I have included patches for all of the files in my library some of which I cannot remember from whence they came, many (but not all) from the RWA library.
Those included (ONLY the patch NOT the complete folders):
48ft - ACL, ATSF, CBQ, CNW, Default (GN), GMO, IC, RI
53ft - BC, BN, BNSF, CNA, CNW, CP, CRLE, Default (BN), HE, IC, MP, MRL, NKP, NP, NS1, NW, PRR, RI, Soo, SOU, TRX
