Feather River Canyon Locomotive Mod Pack (EMD F7 & GE U30B)

This is the DTG Feather River Canyon Locomotive Physics Modification pack version 1.0

In order to utilize this freeware physics upgrade, you must have purchased the "Train Simulator: Feather River Canyon Route Add-On" pack available at Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/376932/

This is a freeware pack; in no way is it to be used for commercial purposes. You are free, however to further modify the physics enhancements found in this pack for personal use if you so choose.

This is NOT a mod pack. That full mod pack MAY be available separately from this one (if I deem it necessary to create one).

The purpose of this pack is to adjust the physics performance of the two diesel locomotives that come with the DLC (EMD F7 & GE U30B).

List of general changes; specific changes for each specific locomotive located below:
1. Modified tractive effort and braking effort curves.
2. Modified power ratings @ alternator and @ wheel.
3. Modified fuel capacity.
4. Modified weights.
5. Removed coupler slack.
6. Adjusted rpm range and rate of change.
7. Adjusted locomotive load response times.

Technical specifications:
1. EMD F7 (EMD 567; 1500 THP)
a. Starting tractive effort of 56,500 lbs (251 kN)
b. Continuous tractive effort of 40,000 lbs (178 kN) @ 9.3 mph
c. Dynamic Brake effort of 30,000 lbs (133 kN) @ 25 mph; fade to 0 lbs @ 0.5 mph.
d. Wheel horsepower of 1,350 hp (1,007 kW) @ 20 mph
e. Maximum speed of 65 mph
f. Engine RPM range = 275 - 835
g. RPM change rate (rpm/second) = 35
h. Fuel consumption range (gph)= 3.5 - 93.1
i. Weight = 237,500 lbs (106 imperial tons)
j. Fuel capacity = 1200 gallons
k. Max traction amps = 1500
l. Max brake amps = 600

2. GE U30B (GE 7FDL; 3000 THP)
a. Starting tractive effort of 72,000 lbs (320 kN)
b. Continuous tractive effort of 64,000 lbs (289 kN) @ 10.7 mph
c. Dynamic Brake effort of 40,000 lbs (178 kN) @ 26 mph; extended range sawtooth curve between 26 mph and 8 mph. Fade to 0 lbs @ 0.5 mph.
d. Wheel horsepower of 2,700 hp (1,881 kW) @ 20 mph
e. Maximum speed of 70 mph
f. Engine RPM range = 550 - 1050
g. RPM change rate (rpm/second) = 25
h. Fuel consumption range (gph)= 4 - 155
i. Weight = 287,000 lbs (128.125 imperial tons)
j. Fuel capacity = 1700 gallons
k. Max traction amps = 1800
l. Max brake amps = 900


IMPORTANT; Install Instructions

1. Locate FeatherRiver (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\DTG\FeatherRiver)
2. Open DTG_Feather_River_Canyon_Locomotive_Mod_Pack.rar
3. Drag the file folder from the .rar in step 2 into the directory you opened in step 1.
4. The installation should be complete. Run TS2016 to check.
5. If installation is botched or does not work, to back up to original files, delete the folder from step 3.

I have ported the F7 simulation bin and dcsv files over to other F7 DLC (Kuju, Great Northern, PRR, etc.). Is it possible to modify the bin file to have passenger gearing as with the Empire Builder?

Assuming that the VRC U30B's physics are close to the prototype, I'm interested to know how this set of physics for the DTG U30B will function on the VRC.

Does anyone know of an appropriate horn replacement for the U30B?
Specs: i3 550 3.2Ghz, 4GB DDR3 RAM, Radeon HD 5770

Will your installation instructions work if the route's assets are contained within an AP file?

I didn't know that and unpacked the .ap with 7zip, will that still work as well?

Thanks. I seldom apply 3rd party modifications, but yours looks interesting and I may give it a try. Too bad that my next file verification will wallpaper it over!

I've applied the mod but when I try to run any of the included scenarios I get a "Unable to load file - tracks.bin" error. If I remove the mod's RailVehicles folder, the scenarios start okay. If I put it back, I get the error message. I'm clearing the cache after each change.

Press F2 and cancel and the scenarios will run as normal.
