Rural America

Unread postby GreatNortherner » Fri Mar 18, 2011 12:12 pm

Colleagues,

Just wanted to announce the release of dozens of new town- and farm objects for RailWorks. Based on my older "Wild West" pack, I have just uploaded three packs of objects with a 'rural America' theme. All of the buildings from the old pack are included too, but now also available in many new colors.

Pack 1: 30 barns and sheds in various colors

Pack 2: A handful of farm houses (single story and saltbox)

Pack 3: Main street... lots of buildings, residential and commercial

Night textures are included for all the residential buildings. The models are still fairly simple (no inset windows and other fancy stuff), but I tweaked the shaders and LODs a bit, they are now visible from further away and the lighting should be a bit better too.

Download them right now at my website http://golden-age-rails.com/scenery.html

I say: Yeeehaw, Cowboy! Thank you very much. **!!bow!!**

In my opinion there is still a lack of some good typical US suburb/middle-class houses. Maybe an idea for a new pack Michael. (please)

I know I can use a gazillion of typical US suburb/middle-class houses.

Where did you get those 40s/50s cars? You made them? They are part of the Portland Terminal? Michael you keep up with always better news. !*drool*!

Hi,

Yes, the (freelanced) Chevy and Ford are my models. They will be included in a future project, but more about that later.
The mailboxes, trash cans and bags will be part of the PT too though, if you're looking for more clutter objects.

Cheers,
Michael

Just amazing what you are producing. A one-stop shop for the turn of the 19th Century, indeed.

Michael,

Thanks so much for these models, I will be putting them to good use soon.

Any plans on turn of the century passenger and freight depots?

Regards,
Trevor

Hi Trevor,

Actually yes, I'm slowly converting my MSTS Great Northern depots to RW. Already done are Shelby and Skykomish (which share an almost identical design), an old section house - which can stand in as a flag stop I suppose. Next up are some of the standard GN design wooden frame depots, like Essex, Blackfoot, and so on, and then the much fancier depots from Cut Bank and Conrad, MT. The Havre GN and Great Falls GN and MILW depots are also in there. It's gonna take me a little while though.

Cheers,
Michael

Understood. I am in need of a few small brick and wood frame depots from the Midwest. It's time to get off my backside and learn how to model. I have a few photos, hopefully enough to work from.

Here is one I need to make for my WIP route.
