Errors

My brother and I, strive to make our own home-made scenarios. For the past 2 days, everything we do in the world editor, triggers a "Something Bad Has Happened" error, killing the game session. !*hp*! Things as simple as selecting a consist in the consist list, clicking on the "set final destination" button and highlighting a driver symbol. It, sucks, but I'm 15 and he's 13. Therefore, our parents have us on time restraints, for using the computer. So these errors and problems greatly reduce the amount of time we can spend actually ENJOYING railworks, rather than constantly walk on eggshells, so as not to "set it off". I'm talking like this is a volatile person I'm dealing with! I'm starting to look like this... *!twisted!* ! (Joking about the twisted evil face) But seriously. It's very frustrating. Yesterday, I did a verify integrity of game cache, but that seems to have done nothing. *!sad!*

Thanks for the help

Nathan

Well Nathan stay cool RS tends to drive people a little loco at time.

When you open the game go to MainMenu then select Game Settings Then select tools then select Clear Cache I select the last option this may help with your problem.

Now, it just randomly comes up with SBHH errors in the middle of driving a scenario. !*hp*! !*hp*! !*hp*! !*hp*! !*hp*! !*hp*! !*hp*! !*hp*! !*hp*! !*hp*!

Hang in there, You're doing everything right (from what you've said). Maybe backup all your content and scenarios (maybe just package them with the packager) and reinstall the sim. I had to verify my cache twice in 1 week because of some xml file error that wouldn't even allow me to get to the welcome screen. It's working fine now.

Also, maybe try activating al the content you want to use, or anything that any other asset might reference to. That was a turning point for me.

Best of luck
!!howdy!!

How do you mean "activate"?

One common denominator seems to be the fact that I'm running the NERW route. I love the route! But, could it be the problem? How do I safely and properly back up my acquired rolling stock items, scenarios and downloaded repaints, without backing up the file that is screwing me over?

There's no easy way, but you can uninstall that route and see if it fixes the problem.

If I re-install the route, will all my scenarios still be there?

No, they are stored in a folder inside of the route folder. You should back them up first.

Re-installed the route. Scenario editor seemed to work good, but just got an SBHH when I was playing the scenario and tried to save the progress.

Check on the NERW forums, maybe something was posted about that particular scenario.
Most probably you have a problem with an asset.

It's my own scenario. I built it yesterday. *!sad!* Think I should still try their forum? I've built my own scenarios on that route in weeks past and they've worked fine.

What about other scenarios from NERW? Do they also cause a SBHH?

If it's your own scenario, you'll have to solve the problem yourself.
I mean the guys at NERW will be glad to help as much as people here, but the task is on you.

Do you have errors and warnings in the editor? Look in the timetable view. Warnings or OK, errors are not.
Also use RW_Tools to check the route and your scenario.

Then you can start looking for the problem by trial-and-error. Work on clones of the scenario so you preserve the original.
For example, remove all instructions from all consists. If it stops crashing, you have narrowed down the possible causes.
Keep on narrowing down.
