Problems with Justin Cornell's BNSF GP38

Hey everybody, this is my first post here. I've had Railworks now for a few months. I have been able to download the engine and the dependencies but I cannot drive the engine. I can put the engine in a scenario and when I click on it, it does not have a driving option. I have no controls to drive it. Please help!

Did you put a driver icon on it?

Yes I do, and still nothing. I can blow the horn, ring the bell and other stuff, but wen I press the "4" key and panel for the controls pops up, it doesn't have the controls for the locomotive to drive it.

The Virtual Console to drive is "F4', not "4" (this is the track view, to chase consist when passing).

Sorry, I dont have any controls though for driving the engine. I downloaded the engine BEFORE the dependencies and I think that might have something to do with it. I have a photo below to show what I mean. There's no controls in the red circle, why is that?

Ah! That's the case in which a shot says more than hundred words! :D

That's weird indeed. The "elements" of F4 HUD are on \RailSimulatorCore folder and are used in the same way by all engines (of same type: diesel, steam or eletric). Maybe this is one of those default core files corrupted. To be sure if this is your case load a scenario with any other diesel engine and see if the F4 HUD is missing controls also. Also check with the GP-38 if you can drive by keyboard, and let me know. And then, maybe, I can show a fix for it. *!!wink!!*

All other locomotives are drivable. I cannot drive it on my keyboard though, I've already tried doing that!

Then is not the problem I was wondering... can't help. !!**sorry**!! It looks like missing sections on engine and/or simulation files, and all I can suggest so far is reinstall all packs again (if possible uninstalling first), in the correct order as you likely did before. !*don-know!*

How do I uninstall the files?

You don't "need" to uninstall, you can try reinstall over your current installation.
If the packs (I can't recall) are rwp files, you can uninstall using the same tool: Package Manager.
If they are packed with RW_Tools (RW_AssetSetup.exe etc.) then you can do the same I did to uninstall it: just go to Explorer and delete the \railworks\Assets\JCornell folder.

Didn't I read somewhere here that Justin was not interested in updating the GP38 to TS2012 standards? Could that be the issue? In any case, try what Doc suggested.

I guess MadMike and/or Papa did an update (with lights at least, but maybe also with rain) to the engine, but I couldn't find it on Lbrary !*don-know!*

MadMike and I have done a number of updates for the Cornell GP38-2. It now has lights, but does not have rain (GEO is too big). Many of these have been out for several months and this is the first time I have heard of anyone having a problem with the F4 display while driving them.

Which repaint did you download?
