I read it fine thru the shouting.
First, not many laptops will run Railworks. Did it ever run, or is it just NEC that is giving the problem? NEC will bring most every PC to it's knees, performance wise, even the most high end desktop PC, let alone a laptop.
Not every route or locomotive will let you use Simple controls, so you should just get used to using Expert controls, they work with everything. If you are still learning to drive in RW, do the Tutorials. They will help a lot.
Not all locomotives will appear in all the routes. This is the same in real life, and RW tries their best to copy real life. Don't expect a Denver & Rio Grande on the NEC. Unless you use the editing tools and put one there.
Best advice? Take it easy, take it slow. Be patient, you may have to run a scenario 3 or 4 times to get it right. Then all the sudden, it will seem easier. practice with braking and accelleration. It takes time.
It's not a game, it's a simulator. Now have fun!
