The Dead Zone??

Unread postby emdsd90mac » Fri Nov 11, 2011 12:12 pm

The Dead Zone: One could define this as an area with in a route that when flying to and entering causes, hold on, wait for it.......... you guessed it, the all too famous SBHH. WTH!!!! I have tried flying to this area on my new route from both ends of the line and every time I get to this area RW3 locks up and goes home for the night. I have cleared my cache and tried again and it does the same thing. I have tried turning off the TS technology thingymajig and have called no joy on that one either. I have restarted the computer and then cleared my cache and still the same thing happens. Also it happens during game play and in the world editor. I already have assets in place within this "Dead Zone" so I don't know if it's related to one of these assests or not. Any advice? !*hp*!

I had this problem as well when working on a yard. Something went FUBAR with the track tile. I was able to replace the tile with an older version from a backup and the problem went away. Reworking that part of the yard was a small price to pay for living with SBHH.

Ok, so I was able to sneak into this area from the side, so to speak, and delete all of the assets in this "Dead Zone". It still freezes (SBHH) up on one tile though. If I delete the tile, I will be left with a huge drop off all the way down to sea level. Not too practical. I could try to delete this tile and re DEM the area but then I might create even more work for myself. Anyone have any additional thoughts or should I just call it quits on yet another route due to program errors.

Do you have a recent backup / package you made of your route before the problems occurred? If so, maybe you could simply install from that and that could fix the problem.

If you did delete the problematic area, you could always use the "Level terrain" in the paintbrush tools to quickly raise the terrain to a level of your choosing, then it would be a matter of "re-building" the area manually the best you can.

I'm not sure what else to suggest right off.

Terrain tiles are kept in the Terrain folder, whereas Track Tiles are in the Networks folder. In my case I had a problem with track, so I remove just that tile in the Track Tile folder. This did not affect my terrain. There are also tiles for Roads and Lofts and Scenery.

I guess its a little late to ask, but did you back up your route before you started removing models from your route?

No, I didn't back up the route prior to deleting route objects, but it will only take me a little while to replace; that isn't my biggest concern. If I delete the terrain tile, I don't think I will be able to get it back to looking as real due the fact that this particular area is mountainous and in a canyon. I will go with deleting the track tile although, I have already deleted all of the assets and track from this area. I will keep you all updated.
