Using the junction switch

Unread postby Richardc007 » Fri Sep 30, 2011 7:52 pm

Hi All

I am a new user to this program. i am having a good time but get very frustrated when it comes to switching the points to another track. when i try to do this the lever just seems to stay in the same place. and there is no reference as to how to use this lever.

would love some help in this matter as trainz seems to make it very easy.

Many thanks

I usually set the switches from the F9 display, especially if i am trying to get out of a yard and there are multiple switches.

I don't have any answers regarding the lever however. In the rare cases that I try and change a switch in-game, I try and watch the points to see how the switch is set, but you need to be pretty close to be able to see this..

First, welcome, Richard *&!welcome!&*

To elaborate on what Toonces said, you can use the "9" key (2D map) to change the "points" by using the mouse arrow, "SHIFT-click" on the switch you want to change. You should see the gray line change thru the switch into the new direction, which will show as a blue line past the switch. Or, when driving, use the "G" key to change the switch going forward. SHIFT + G when going backwards. It can be a little confusing at first, but you'll get the hang of it.

The red and green lights are too hard for me to see, so I use the F3 Driver's Guide. It shows the status of the upcoming switch. !*salute*!
