Whoa! Catastrophe Averted!!

So when I logged onto the game earlier tonight the launcher stayed on screen an extra few moments and I'm guessing RW got a patch. But when I opened a route I've been working on I discovered to my horror that the terrain in the middle third of the route had been flattened to zero elevation and all the water in my river had gone missing too. So I got out of game quick and used Task Manager to shut down the game without saving, then rebooted the pc and tried again and, much to my astonishment, the pancaked terrain on my route had been restored to it's original pristine condition of partial-semi-completedness. Whew!

I'm wondering if this kind of thing happens often, or if it's just painful and rare. Do you guys bother cloning multiple copies of routes or do you just back up the whole route folder(s) to some other location?

I back up my whole route folder everyday before I start working on it. I have sub folders with te name of the date it is and copy it to them. I keep a 30 day supply of back ups all the time I have been working on it, thats since June of 2010, almost 1500 hours of work in it now.

Wow, that's a whole bunch of hours! Hope you have a good union contract, *!lol!*. It must make for a big archive, too. I only just started RW and (taking your suggestion) discovered my route folder is already a whole gig.

I have 3 TB of hard drive. Plenty of room here. Route is now 180 meg.
