Let's start a new thread to see if anyone is having problems and what they are.

I'll start this by saying my Workshop scenarios won't load because the game is not recognizing my DLC's. I tried the suggestion of going into build mode but there it doesn't see any of them at all.

I've discovered that if I try to scroll through my engines in Quick Drive, the sim will freeze and lock up my computer. My only options are to restart or sign out. Even the Task Manager is locked out. I found that the freeze always happens on page 17 of my engines if I scroll forward or page 20 (22 total pages), if I scroll backwards.

Have you tried my workaround?

I am no longer able to select a locomotive in Quick Drive mode at all. As soon as I select the box to change locomotive the game tries to load the preview images, then freezes solid and will not yield to anything except Task Manager (which I always keep open and have the "Always on Top" option selected, so it overrides anything once I select it through Alt-Tab).

My first page has all of Smokebox's modern UP steamers, the Victory works S160s, the MR WM 2-8-0s, and whatever else happens to be first alphanumerically... Will try to dump some of those engines out of the Assets folder and see if that helps.

Yes none of the scenarios show up at all.

lua scripting broken as well. Can't put the reverser in the Searchlight CP AC4400.
In hindsight, it would have been better to release this as a beta with provisions to revert. This would have given them some feedback without causing harm.

After some trial and error, I have found the cause. It pains me to say it....

For reasons unknown to me, it appears to be something about Smokebox's steam locomotives, both the modern and the 1800s equipment, that seems to cause the QuickDrive menu to hang after the core update. If I remove the Smokebox folder from my Assets folder, the issue goes away... I would appreciate if someone else could test and verify this.

That being said, if it's not just my system, I have every confidence our Mr. Rennie will be able to put the situation right.

Are you referring to your suggestion on the General Discussion thread to go through the Build menu? I can see that as a possible fix for problems with scenarios, but I'm not sure how to apply that to my problem of having a computer freeze while scrolling through the engines in the Quick Drive tab. I don't have this problem scrolling through the routes.

I removed the Smokebox folder from Assets and was able to scroll through the Quick Drive engines without my computer crashing. So, yes I can verify this as far as I'm concerned.

I can't even scroll through all the routes, maybe 2 in the drive menu. at the most. I have a bunch of 3rd party routes and clones of others. Other than playing from my backup this is the only I can play. Side note: lua files and scripting are all messed up. Example, I can't put the reverser in the SS AC4400. Reported some of Smokeboxe's stuff will not load.

Dovetail has isolated the issue causing the menu freeze and posted this to their support site describing a method for a temporary fix.

https://dovetailgames.freshdesk.com/sup ... ter-update

It's caused by thumbnail images that are "not to standard" and is known to have affected both routes and locomotives. They have a list of known affected official content at the bottom of the article.

Note: I edited my post above. I meant to say (after removing the Smokebox folder) "....without crashing my computer."

There was a post by AmericanSteam that apparently has been deleted. It referred to DTG's fix for Assets/Content thumbnail images. DTG says the correct size is 512x256. The majority of thumbnails in my Railworks/Assets - Contents folders are sized 256x128. The few that were not (I corrected them) were from 3rd party developers. I too am also unable to load any Workshop content.

It was not deleted. It's posted over on another thread.
