Photoshop problem

Unread postby slick204 » Wed Jan 18, 2023 10:28 pm

So everything was working fine before lunch then when I got back to working on a repaint, Photoshop (CS2) will no longer save as an ACE or DDS file. It says it cannot save because of a program error. Everything else is working, as far as I can tell.

I have reinstalled the ACE and DDS plug-ins, repaired photoshop, removed and reinstalled photoshop to no avail.

I know this is a long shot but does any one have any ideas? Thanks.

I had similar and it was my anti-virus putting Photshop into containment. I switched off the auto-containment and back to normal after a complete restart.

Were you still able to use photoshop? Everything else works except saving as an ACE or DDS file.
I'll try turning auto-containment off, if it has it. Thanks!

I Use RS-Bin and DXTBMP to get around that issue. Works great.

I used that method yesterday Harry. It seems clunky to me but I suppose I'll get used to it eventually.

I tried Gimp as it has built in DDS support, however it doesn't ask how many mipmaps you want. I assume that's a problem!

I finally figured it out. It occurred to me that this started after I saved a selection in the .psd file. I noticed that it showed up in the channels tab, just below the alpha channel. I just deleted it and now I can save again. !*don-know!*

I'll leave this here in case anyone else has this issue.
