Disappearing Models

Unread postby Nitsujy12345 » Fri Feb 05, 2021 5:41 pm

I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this issue, but I'm seeking help from more educated modelers.

Every single model I've ever imported into Railworks will only render on the screen from certain angles. A good example is with the coil cars I uploaded to RWA recently.

Here is another example:

It shows up from this angle:

As soon as I look from a different angle:

I'm by no means an expert modeler - I use SolidWorks to model, export as an STL, import to Blender for basic mapping and export as IGS. I then use blueprint editor to import it into the game. Does anyone have any idea on what might cause this? It's a very frustrating issue! !*hp*!

By resetting XForms, you mean Object -> Apply -> (all transforms) ?

If that's what you're referring to, nothing changed and still doesn't show properly in-game

In Blender, Ctrl + Shift + Alt + C -> Origin to Geometry. Then LocRotScale. Re-export. This typically fixes those issues.

That still didn't work. I never heard of LocRotScale before so I'm not sure if I'm missing a step, but what I tried for this model was set the origin to center of mass, then did a google search on LocRotScale and added that to the model...Like I said I really know nothing about blender, all I use it for is the auto mapping and exporting and that is all...so there might be steps I'm missing.

Still doing this:

On the UKTrainsim forum, someone posted about this problem. Suggestions were similar to those here. (Apply transforms, set the origin - which you say you've done). One suggestion had to do with the units of measurement being set incorrectly. (The second link below - also referenced in the first link.)

After doing the Origin to Geometry on another model, it seemed to fix my issue. Thanks all for the help
