Re: c&o caboose missing textures

Kevhead,

Had the same problem & more, including loading repaints that were not visible but I could hear them clicking on rails.
I was trying to load them in a deserted part of a large yard that was fairly crowded with locos/frt cars in other areas but off-screen.

When I went to a huge yard occupied by only two locos (Conway Yard on P & LE) all my problems disappeared. A demonstrable memory problem.

Upgraded computer should be done next week. It was overdue!

Hope this helps. !!*ok*!!

I would have thought that, too (missing shape file) but the report that it finally worked in another place indicates that is a wrong conclusion. That whole experience is right down weird! The first time I've ever heard of it.

Tori,

There were more mishaps than I mentioned and checking for missing files was done quickly. I also tried other scenery areas and known cures with no joy. There were no SBHH or other error warnings. Checked with a couple of authors of troubled objects---no joy. !*hp*!

The whole thing must have been cooked up at a Gremlin convention !**duh*!!

It may have been as simple as an expired stick of ram, but system update is overdue. Just lucky to have stumbled onto answer.
We really have to stay awake with this Sim and management of assets.

Hi,

The "invisible rail vehicle" issue is in my experience usually caused by missing shape (*.geopcdx) files. This usually is the case with reskins of payware models, where the user must manually copy these files before using the cars.

The missing textures notice "written on the car" means really just that, that one or several of the texture files (*.tgpcdx) cannot be found by the game.
With the C&O caboose (which I repainted) I have unfortunately no clue why that should be. Maybe the installation went wrong somehow, have you tried reinstalling the car? It's really only a simple repaint of the default caboose, nothing fancy, and should just work 'straight out of the box'. Is anybody else having this problem?

Cheers,
Michael

The default caboose only has one file for practically the entire thing - likewise the bumpmap which can cause some real head-scratching if it goes adrift - so missing textures on only part of it is really confusing. Kev, can you take a screencap?
