RW Tools Problem

Unread postby mikeg1250 » Fri May 20, 2011 1:25 pm

Hey everyone,

I'm continually getting the error "serz.exe was unable to convert your new texture to a .TgPcDx file - Sorry but this is out of my control.

Doe anyone know how to fix this?

Make sure serz.exe was copied into the RWTools folder (see Item 3 under Installation in the Readme file).

Also don't use any special symbols or letters in any file (e.g. a routemarker) like $,',* and so on.
The serz.exe can't read these and fails.

I am running the program as the administrator and the file name is no different than the original name (no special characters).

Did you setup your path to the RW folder correctly? And if the only thing failing with RWTools is the textures you can use RSBinTools to open and convert them to .dds files. RSBinTools is from a different dev and works totally fine for me, I had problems with RWTools and repainting too.

Setting all .exe to administrator if your are running W7. both in RW and RW_Tools. But SP2 has done something strange to W7 as well IE9 has also made changes to Windows Explorer as well. !*don-know!*
Note the Blue/yellow Shields on each one.

Okay I did that and now RSBin Tools is telling me it can't find serz. I double checked that it is in c:\windows\system32 folder !*hp*!

So it seems like I have a problem with the serz????

SP2 for Win 7????? Huh? There's an SP1, is that what you mean?

Paying the little amount to have a Premium account at UKTS is well worth it, just to not wait in a line that is 30 members long. Heck, if I want it, I want it NOW, dangit! !*YAAA*! Helps support their website, just as donation help support here. I don't go to the Forums over there, but even a few downloads is worth the cost. !!*ok*!!

serz.exe is in your railworks home folder, could be: c:\program files\steam\steamapps\railworks

With regards to the serz file and RW_Tools you will find it does it automatically.

Quote from Mike's Read_Me:

3. This version will automatically copy serz.exe AND msvcr71.dll from the
RailWorks folder into your RW_Tools folder once you have set up the path
to RailWorks from the Options menu.

Note: Users of Windows 7 MUST run the Inst_RW_Tools2.exe by right clicking it and
selecting 'Run as administrator' from the pop-up menu.
