Game Restart Causes Game To Uninstall

So today I changed the settings from full screen to windowed. I ha to restart the game and clicked yes. When i clicked yes, it exited the game the install window came up. Huh. But then i tried manually launching TS and it wouldn't launch. It now says the game is uninstalled in steam. I can't get it to run.

I suspect this was caused by my game being in the SteamLibrary folder on my different hard drive rather than the default x86 directory. It probably looked in the default and couldn't find it, so it assumed I didn't have the game installed.

How can I fix this by setting up a default directory?

Let's start at the beginning. Going from full screen to windowed should not cause any of these issues. Just asking was or is the Railworks installed on the C: drive? If so is it gone? When you go into the Steam page library does it show the game as installed or not? Have you exited Steam and loaded it again to see if it loads the game if it's not there?

So I tried going with the install and having it overwrite the files. I did that and then verified the integrity of the game files. Didn’t work. It tries to launch but dosent egt any further than the little TS 2021 screen. I used to have TE installed in x86 but moved it to a different drive because the other one was running low on storage.

ITs an option in the steam menu that that allows you to kinda refresh the game files. This managed to get TS to show as installed again but it still won't start. I tried installing and reinstalling it again to no avail.

You sound like you don't think that I know any of this stuff. Did you verify the game files until Steam said all the files were good? If things are really messed up you may need to run it several times until it reports it's no longer loading any more files. Have you tried to start the game from the Steam page? Have you tried to start it from the RailWorks.exe in the actual RailWorks folder? Have you tried to start it from the RailWorks64.exe folder?

I've tried both by shortcut, steam, and the actual application in the railworks folder. None work.

I did it and it said "All files successfully validated". It still won't start. Also, i tried reinstalling it with fresh new .exe files, but that didn't do it either.

I'm about to surrender to someone who knows more possible geek stuff that might be a problem.
Just a FYI my path to the game looks like this: D:Games\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks.

One more time explain exactly what happens when you try to boot up the game?

It shows the little TS2021 screen in the middle of my screen like normal, and then it disappears and for a bit and nothing happens. Then the game will crash with an out of memory error.

Did you recently subscribe to anything in the workshop? I get the crash with some stuff from the workshop.

Not the problem, this did not start right after I installed workshop items. I tried clearing the workshop subscriptions but that didn't help either.

It doesn't always crash right after installing from Workshop. Sometimes it won't start crashing till it runs once and creates corrupted files in the Railworks Database files. The game crashing on start up means something is either corrupt or completely missing. Have you run LogMate then try starting the game to see what errors the log shows? Also, in the Railworks install folder there should be Steam Dump files when it crashes that can be read with note pad.
