Locomotive adons don't work in TS2020 - help needed!

Hi.

I brought TS2019 and updated it to 2020. This was a massive mistake, seeing that most locomotive addons I have downloaded do not work ("out of memory") or appear invisible despite having all shape and texture files, and the utilites program displaying no errors. Everything from the QJ to the brand new NYC Hudsons made this year (interestingly the old MSTS conversions work flawlessly), the vehicles run just fine, they are only invisible... except the Hudsons, which also get "out of memory" crashes. I'm certain I'm not the only one experiencing these problems. There must be a fix of some sort for this, I just don't know what it is. Anyone willing to help?

Thanks in advance.

OoM has been a problem for many, though DTG says they cannot fix it because they have defaulted, clean installs. Perhaps like Buzz said, "Maybe install a repaint and hit the restart button a few times should show them." *!lol!*

Might be a new code in TS2020 causing the problem. But it just seems like the dialog is a replacement for any crash dialog. I do something dumb that breaks the game (e.g. spawn a train inside another and try to delete it), and what used to be the ErrorReporter.exe crash dialog, is now the OoM dialog.

Some also say it could be the new Windows Fall 2019 update, which came out around the same time as TS2020.

No one really knows what the problem is. !*don-know!*

I have a very similar setup to yours, and I think I was experiencing the same issue (the DSGDDR NYC Hudsons would crash the game with an “Out of Memory” error when starting a scenario, and they would show up invisible in the consist editor and scenario editor).

In my case, the fix turned out to be easy: I needed to buy the Cajon Pass route.

The reason is that many third-party add-ons, including the Hudsons, rely on assets that are included in Cajon Pass. I believe Cajon Pass used to be the default US route that came with the game, but since I first bought TS in 2019, I didn’t have it. TS 2020’s “Out of Memory” error is misleading, so I ended up tracking the issue down by noticing a bunch of messages complaining about missing assets in a LogMate report.

Incidentally, this also fixed my missing couplers on the G-TraX coaches.

Finally, I think the US Assets Pack would also fix the issue. As far as I can tell, though, all of the same assets are included in Cajon Pass, and Cajon Pass is currently cheaper on the Steam Autumn Sale.

Interesting, I got Cajon Pass in TS2019, and I still get OoM crashes, but very little.

Yeah, I just mentioned it because al225’s issue sounded almost identical to mine. The Out of Memory message seems to be a generic error message right now, probably representing many underlying issues. So unless you’re specifically having problems with broken Hudsons or missing couplers, installing Cajon is unlikely to be the fix.

The OP hasn't replied for about 3 weeks about this so he must have found a fix. As DTG cannot replicate this issue on any of there computers which they have lots of they are unable to fix it. Also, remember there are thousands of different computers out there which run all sorts of hardware and software. I myself haven't really had this OOM error which has stopped me from playing TS although when I have finished a session and have shut down TS I have had the error message on my desktop. I also recommend that the OP goes to the Steam forums as there are lots of suggestions there.

I have found that by clearing the cache outside of the game after each editing session or run is very helpful in reducing OoM.
