Cars in long consists disappearing

This is a rather odd problem that I've been having for a while. If I make a train of more than 80 or 90 cars sometimes the cars near the end of the train will not load up for a while and all I see is a pair of couplers floating in the air. It mainly happens when I'm attempting to record using FRAPS but I've seen it happen a couple of times during regular gameplay. Is there any way I might be able to fix this?

Could it be draw distance?

I don't think so. I have the draw distance maxed out.

Could it be your computer performance?

Perhaps. Here are my system specs:

GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX560Ti 2GB
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
RAM: 4GB Corsair DDR3
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Ok, so not that then, my PC is probably half as good as that and does not have this issue.

Hang on. I'll record a video of what's happening and maybe someone can figure out what's wrong.

Here's a 140+ car AI train. The glitch happens kind of early on this time and near the end of the train, it all suddenly pops back in.

My suggestion is that your computer is temporarily running short of available memory and it is not loading the geometry and texture files for the missing wagons. Does it repeat after a computer restart and then running the scenario with no other programs running in the background?

Here's a thought I had. Does the problem repeat itself the same way each time or do the cars disappear at different car counts as you repeat it? If it is repeatable, it probably is a problem with your sim installation. However, if the cars dissapear at 100 one time and 110 the next, its probably your computer that's doing it and you need to look for something that's loading it down.

Yeah it's a little different each time. As you can see, this time it occured after only 20 or 30 cars but sometimes I can get up to 80 cars just fine before it happens. When under a load like that I see Railworks using around 1.5 to 1.6 million kilobytes of memory in the task manager. Should I try adjusting things like draw distance settings and see if that helps?

Hiya, turn the non-draw distance related settings way down and see if it still happens.

Turned everything except for draw distance and scenery detail down to low and this cut memory usage by about 33%. But I'm still getting the same problem when recording with Fraps. **!!bang!!**

Then I don't think it is system resources. Go ahead and turn your settings back to normal.

Umm, turn off FRAPS? Steam now has a built in screen shot. Oh, crap, just remembered, you are making movies, not just taking screen shots. They may be right, you are running out of RAM. How much hard drive space do you have, and what is the virtual memory set at? Empty hard drive space will greatly affect virtual memory.
