I'm trying to help a friend figure out how to make winter textures and I can't seem to find a tutorial on it any longer, was the tutorial deleted.

If not does any one know of a tutorial on this that still exists?

The textures are renamed as xxx_wi.
All the snow textures almost look white or wash out.
