PC GP9 red

Unread postby okievokey » Mon Apr 11, 2011 4:44 pm

I am having trouble loading IIR PC Mine run. The problem is that the scenario calls for x-GP9_hi_db_nv.bin. The Britkit default has x-GP9_hi_db.bin, x-GP9_hi_db_rv.bin, x-GP9_hi_db_nc.bin and x-GP9_hi_db_rv_nc.bin, but no _nv. I am fairly new to Railworks and I am illiterate when it comes to using the editor. I could pick one of the files at random, copy it and rename it to fit what RWTools says is missing but maybe I'd miss out on learning something. For instance, I'm not sure I know what Dick Cowen's suffixes indicate since the zip only included the .rwp and no documentation.

Doug,

I could never get the red logo unit to work so I used RWTools to replace it with a different PC GP9. It's a quick and painless solution. I've sent messages about this and a couple other rolling stock issues to the developer but never received any response.

Thanks Don. RW_Tools to the rescue again! Maybe I need to send Mike another donation in appreciation of his contribution. The first one wasn't enough!

Funny you say so, I've contacted him for exactly that (after contributing with a bit testing and bug hunt and translating two of the tutorials) and he wouldn't want any more cash. Said he does not really do it for the money, but to help all of us out. And that one donation regardless of the amount is enough acknowledgement for his work.
If you read this Mike: Thank you a lot again!

I had the same problem, when I emailed Michael about the missing file he responded:

This is very strange... the engine BIN file *should* be there, it is supposed to be in the repaint I uploaded a long time ago.
I just checked, it is NOT there!!! The missing engine file is for a version without crew. The missing file is attached.
This is also the reason why I could not replicate the error, as the file is not missing on my system.

What really bugs me now, why didn't I or the packager include it in the repaint... and why didn't anybody notice until now? It's been over a year that the repaint is online, and several months that the scenario is online. Looks like it is high time for a patch!

My apologies for this so far undetected bug!!! And thank you very much for finding it!

Best regards,
Michael

He kindly sent me the missing file, and the scenario ran fine thereafter. It was worth a bit of effort, the IIR and this scenario are a lot of fun!

If it's still missing, I expect it's because he's backlogged or it might just have slipped his mind. Michael, if you're seeing this, what say you?

Whether he does it for the cash or for the joy of making a contribution to the hobby, I for one, am glad that he has chosen to do so!
