Is there a way to change a QD scenario in a standard one?

Unread postby jtousign » Fri Jul 20, 2018 6:36 pm

I made a big mistake creating a long scenario using a QD Template instead of a standard one in the Montana Link RR. I tried to change it with RW_Tools but no result as in the scenario editor. Any hint for that one would be appreciated!! *!sad!*

I don't think it can be done. Everything I have tried over the past 2 years has failed

Thanks Overshoe for reply. By the way, is there a way to start the scenario on QD mode instead of scenario editor? The only way I found is to go in scenario editor for starting the scenario. !*don-know!*

Does the scenario show up in the QD menu? Probably not, because you probably placed a train like you would in a standard scenario, instead of a player spawn marker.

If you remove the player train and place a player spawn marker, AND a destination, you can then use the scenario in quick drive.

You will need to also select a player train consist to start the scenario.

This is the best you tube tutorial I have found for quick drives. Its all UK stuff but the principles are well illustrated. I've watched it a couple dozen times and find new stuff every time.

Many thanks Overshoe for the link! Will be useful for sure. It's a surprise to learn that you can see a ''scenario'' showing up in QD mode! All I can see in QD mode is choosing a Locomotive, a route and a consist but no scenario showing up. Maybe I have still a lot to learn in Train simulator!! !**conf**!

Yes of course I'll post it on the forum for any one interested. Open RW_Tools and go to the folder of the QD scenario you want to change, then open the xml file called ScenarioProperties.xml. Make a search of that key word: ScenarioClass. Now that become interesting, all QD scenario are written that way: ''eTemplateScenarioClass'' while the standard ones are written: ''eStandardScenarioClass.

- « Quick Drive » mode :

<ScenarioClass d:type="cDeltaString">eTemplateScenarioClass</ScenarioClass>

- « Standard » mode :

<ScenarioClass d:type="cDeltaString">eStandardScenarioClass</ScenarioClass>

All you have to do is changing the word ''Template'' for ''Standard'' and saving the file in RW_Tools. You're done. Go to Trains Simulator and you'll find the scenario in the ''Standard'' area. As simple as that! I tried it last night and it works fine. !!howdy!!

I got it working. Thanks much. I spent hours fooling with the Quick Drive lines at the bottom and missed the template completely.
Some of the QD features like AI & random static spawn don't work but placing stuff and giving AI instructions is a simple process.

Thanks again, this will come in handy.

What I find great in that is the fact that you can use all loose consists already installed in QD scenarios which save you lot of time.
