In cab camera panning

Hey guys,

What controls the ability to pan while in cab? Some locomotives can pan around indefinitely in circles, other have a "wall" and block you. I'm trying to run an SD40 long hood forward but when I turn around I'm bumped up against the panning limit whether I go right or left from the forward view.

I've tried changing the values in the Cab Camera.xml and .bin files but it doesn't make a difference. This is the line of values I've been altering with no luck... is it somewhere else, or just built into the cab model itself?

Thanks!
Kyle

Those are the right entries to edit, but the values are in radians. 360 degrees is equal to 6.28319 radians, so that's the value you need to put in there if you want to be able to turn through 360 degrees.

However, if the developer limited the range to a smaller arc, it might be the case that, to improve frame rates while in the cab view, the rear of the cab hasn't been modelled. So if you change those values and then look backwards, you might end up looking at the cars behind you.

EDIT: Rather than 360 degrees, it might be enough to use 180 degrees, meaning 180 degrees in either direction. In that case, the value to use would be 3.141595.

Thank you so much Smokebox! After reading your help, I decided to dig back into the bin. Turns out I was editing the wrong digit *!embar*! - turned the "3" in that horizontal freedom line into a 6 and I can freely rotate all around now! Not sure why the developer put it in there (it's the newer SD40-2 LNF from Steam) since the whole cab is modelled, and modelled rather well so they weren't trying to hide anything.
