deleting autonumber help?

Unread postby o0nightfire0o » Fri Feb 10, 2017 8:32 pm

so another problem im finding is that on some engines the auto numbering is covering up the printed number, so using RWTools I can edit the bin file I know, but im not sure what to edit, is this what I should be looking at and if so what do I edit/delete?

<cEngineComponentBlueprint>
<NumberingList>
<cCSVContainer>
<CsvFile d:type="cDeltaString">Kuju\RailSimulatorUS\RailVehicles\Diesel\SD40-2\CSX-8\Engine\sd40_2_Def2_numbers</CsvFile>
</cCSVContainer>
</NumberingList>
<FrontCouplingBlueprintID>

by the way there is no number.dscv file in the engine folder if that's of any use.

No guarantees this will still work. It did once long ago.
unzip & put this file in the engine folder.

sd40_2_numbers.zip

did you delete the blueprints.pak from \Assets\Kuju\RailsimulatorUS?

I had some notes from when I fixed it here 3-4 years ago. I'll look for them.

EDit. Look in the engine\textures folder and see if there is an SD40-2_Digits.bin

Credit for the fix should go to Shayfan1 who seems to have left the scene. He did the hard work. I just adapted it for my own purposes initially.

Glad it worked. The same problem happens with the kuju ES44AC too and I've never been able to make the fix work. I have learned a lot about railworks files since 2012 so maybe when some of the other projects get finished (Yeah, right!) I'll see if I can edit the engine bin and those 2 fix files. Then again, maybe not

Hi all,

There is another workaround/trick to take off numbers of any rail vehicle. It only works in the scenario editor though and also only on a per-scenario basis and with some limitations, it is not a global change to the rail vehicle in question.

By changing the numbers of the rail vehicle in the editor to have a different number of digits (say by adding a fifth number to a four-digit road number), all auto-numbers will be made invisible on the model. All you have to do is double click the engine/car and edit the road number in the right-hand panel of the editor.

That can quickly get tedious when one wants to do it for a larger number of vehicles or in many scenarios, but for just a few it is I think a fairly efficient workaround. Please keep in mind that this should ideally be done before setting up any consist operations (marshall, pick-up, drop-off) or it gets a whole lot more difficult because RW scenarios identify vehicles for work orders solely be their numbers. The editor will refuse changing a vehicle's number when it is included in a consist operation.

Cheers
Michael
