Invisible E Units for the Burlington Northern E8s

So I have managed to install the Burlington Northern E Units onto Railworks. The locomotive runs and I am able to drive it but the actual body of the locomotive is invisible. All I can see are the couplers and the rubber diaphrams. I can even get into the cab. The locomotive body even shows up on the create-a-consist menu in the Quick Drive tab, but doesn't show up when you get into the route. I know I have posted before about the BN E8s but I would like to try and recreate the Dinky Parade on the Chicago Racetrack.

You either don't have a GeoPcDx or you have the wrong one. You need this one in there If you have the BN1. E8A-db-RW3

Unfortunately that didn't work it is still invisible. I am not sure what is going on but the locomotive is just not showing up.

Is it the BN1 or something else?

That is the BN1. I have no idea what is going on but I notice the cab has a blue outline on the windows and the XML file is mentioning the shape files but with the added [00] in front of some shape files.

I was looking back and there were a bunch of problems with that thing and I don't know if they ever got fixed. Delete that one or name it .xxx on the end and then try this one.

Yeah that didn't fix it. I am still having the same problem. But I have noticed something else. When making a consist in the Create-a-Consist menu on the Quick Drive tab, the locomotive appears in the consist, but there is no full preview on the top screen. The other locomotives show up right away but the BN1 doesn't. It is rather odd that I can drive the BN1 yet I can't see the actual locomotive. It's kinda funny to see a set of Metra cars pulling out of Chicago Union Station with no locomotive at the headend.

I had this same problem. I was able to get it fixed with these easy steps. First you need to copy the "Default" folder (E8) and paste in the same place. Rename it to whatever you want like "Dinky" or something. Then edit the .bin like you normally would when creating copies of locomotives. Now go into the BN1 and copy the textures from the textures folder and paste then into your new folder under "textures". (rewrite the old ones) That should do it!

How would you edit the bin file? I am not a big modeler and this is all very new to me. I have only posted one scenario on the Steam Workshop and this will be my second scenario every (and trust me it's hard for my to make these scenarios). Messing around with the bin files, the shape files, or the proxyxml files is very hard to do.

Alright I total understand. Here is how to edit the .bin for the Britkit E8 (The one you copied). First you need to go to the "engine" folder and drag the "x-E8a-ndb.bin" file into serz.exe (Should have shortcut on desktop) If you don't know where serz.exe is, you can find it in your "Railworks" folder. After dragging the .bin file into serz it should make this file: "x-E8a-ndb.xml". Open the .xml file with notepad. When it is opened up, navigate to the top of the page and click "Edit" and then click "Replace...". A box should pop up with two lines called "Find What" and "Replace With". In the "Find What" line you need to put \Default\ (Include the "\" for both) and in the "Replace With" you need to put what you renamed your new folder with such as \Dinky\. Once complete click "Replace All" and the box should go away. Here is an example of what that did. <BlueprintID d:type="cDeltaString">Railvehicles\Diesel\E8\Burlington Northern\Buckeye\Buckeye_coupling.xml</BlueprintID> Notice how "Burlington Northern" replaced "Default". You need to do two more things and you will be finished. Go to the top of the .xml file and you should see this:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<cBlueprintLoader xmlns:d="http://www.kuju.com/TnT/2003/Delta" d:version="1.0">
<Blueprint>
<cEngineBlueprint>

Where you see "Default" you need to replace that with your new folder name. Here is an example of what mine looks like.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<cBlueprintLoader xmlns:d="http://www.kuju.com/TnT/2003/Delta" d:version="1.0">
<Blueprint>
<cEngineBlueprint>

<Arabic d:type="cDeltaString"></Arabic>
<Basque d:type="cDeltaString"></Basque>
<Bulgarian d:type="cDeltaString"></Bulgarian>
<Catalan d:type="cDeltaString"></Catalan>
<Croatian d:type="cDeltaString"></Croatian>
<Czech d:type="cDeltaString"></Czech>
<Danish d:type="cDeltaString"></Danish>
<Dutch d:type="cDeltaString"></Dutch>
<Finnish d:type="cDeltaString"></Finnish>
<FrenchCA d:type="cDeltaString"></FrenchCA>
<Greek d:type="cDeltaString"></Greek>
<Hungarian d:type="cDeltaString"></Hungarian>
<Indonesian d:type="cDeltaString"></Indonesian>
<Japanese d:type="cDeltaString"></Japanese>
<Korean d:type="cDeltaString"></Korean>
<Norwegian d:type="cDeltaString"></Norwegian>
<Polish d:type="cDeltaString"></Polish>
<Portuguese d:type="cDeltaString"></Portuguese>
<PortugueseBR d:type="cDeltaString"></PortugueseBR>
<Romanian d:type="cDeltaString"></Romanian>
<Russian d:type="cDeltaString"></Russian>
<Serbian d:type="cDeltaString"></Serbian>
<SimpChinese d:type="cDeltaString"></SimpChinese>
<Slovak d:type="cDeltaString"></Slovak>
<Slovenian d:type="cDeltaString"></Slovenian>
<Swedish d:type="cDeltaString"></Swedish>
<Thai d:type="cDeltaString"></Thai>
<TradChinese d:type="cDeltaString"></TradChinese>
<Turkish d:type="cDeltaString"></Turkish>
<Other/>

After you have finished the changes you need to save the .xml file and close it. Now drag the .xml file to serz.exe. That should be all you need to do. (I assume you already made a copy of the "Default" folder and pasted the "BN1" textures into the new folder.)

Hope this helped! If you need any more info let me know.

Also I don't think you can upload a scenario with items you bought and/or downloaded unless it was purchased through Steam. So the Britkit locomotives might not work. I hope I am wrong for your sake, but just wanted to warn you. (I made a scenario with the freeware Mainlines FMC Plate B boxcars and it failed to upload)

I was going to make two version of the same scenario. One version will feature all Steam content while the other will be uploaded on Railworks America and will feature freeware and third-party payware. (I believe you have to own the payware version of the E8s to get the BN E8s to work.)

By the way, while looking at the bin file for the BN1 model I found that the blueprints it is looking for are xml files and many of the folders only have bin files in them. I am wondering if it is trying to find a file that is not there and as a result not loading in correctly.

From what I heard the .xml is pretty much a readable .bin. In the .bin file everything that would be a .bin is an .xml so that is a normal thing.
