How to switch at Donner Pass

Hi all,

I set up a quick drive scenario from Roseville to Sparky, hauling 60 cars mixed freight.

Suddenly at Balloon Loop I derailed, oooops. Is obvious when one looks at the screenshot below (which is taken just before the Point Of Derailment).

I had expected to be able to change the switch using the "G" or "g" key. But that did not work. I had to get out ot the cab , get my butt over to the switch and chage it by clicking the mouse and pointing at the switch box.

Is / should there be a way to operate the switch without getting out of the cab ?

Just taking a quick look at the picture and not where I can do an in-game look, but it appears that the QD has placed you on the WB main (Track 1) instead of the EB Main (Track 2), which would be wrong, hence your derail and switch problem.

Thanks Roger.

Any idea how to change the switch without leaving the cab ?

Set a marker up for the correct path

Hi Whiskey,

I am not sure what you mean.

In the editor pick the red flag which is a marker and use it to force the path to where you want to go.

Ah, I see. Thanks.

I had hoped there would be a key to change a switch from within the cab.

There is for manual switches. This one is automatic.

Ok, I see.

Being able to get out of the cab, walk to the switch + change it by hand with the mouse + makes me think this one is manual.

I guess I have a lot of reading up to do after not playing TS for almost 3 years.
