Workshop Scenarios. "Missing Assets" when they are not missing...

Unread postby Ericmopar » Fri Oct 07, 2016 7:25 am

I've got a new one. For me.
I'm trying to use Workshop scenarios that I've downloaded, but some of them are saying that I need assets that I already own. !*don-know!*
When I try to load and play these scenarios for the first time, I'm getting a list of missing assets and a prompt to buy things I already own, like Sherman Hill for example and even Donner Pass.
We all know around here that I own Donner. *!greengrin!*

I've had this problem as well. I saw a note in a previous version update that this was supposed to be fixed. Obviously not.....

Same for me: European Loco and Assets and US Loco and Asset Pack head the list, followed by various routes seemingly chosen at random. However, the very same scenarios will run when I select them from the Drive>Standard tab. The trick comes in remembering which route the workshop scenario belongs to -- wouldn't it be nice to have that information included on the workshop page? Some scenario makers include the route's name in the scenario name -- perhaps we should all start doing that.

Conclusion: the right tab doesn't know what the left tab is doing. !!howdy!!

HSC - Over the Top
PS - Containers for Hobart
Etc....

The problem I'm seeing is that in selecting a workshop scenario and it telling me I need "some addon" and I can't launch the scenario, yet, I go to standard scenario, find it, execute it and it runs just fine because I do in fact have that "addon". This was supposed to have been fixed, but obviously hasn't.

This seems to be a "new innovation" from DTG.
If the assets "required" are "greyed out" then you do not need to buy/install them - its only the assets shown in bold are the ones missing, and you need to buy those to get the scenario to run.
You cannot start Workshop scenarios via the "drive button" in the workshop tab for many reasons, it may depend how the author may or may not have interfaced them with DTG's interface, but it could be due to anything. (for example I have 2 PC's running TS2017 and in some cases ion one of the PC's the drive button can be used to start a scenario, but on the other PC the drive button is greyed out!!).
In the WS tab, if the "drive" button is greyed out - then in that case the scenario(s) need(s) to be started from Career, Standard, QD tabs etc as appropriate.
There is nothing wrong or missing its just the way that a WS scenario interacts with TS2017.

I see what you're saying Peter, but what lead me to this discussion is that at least two of the scenarios didn't install to the menu. So I tried to do it the old way, which was to install and drive it from the Workshop tab. That didn't work either.
I'll have to check in the next couple of days. Maybe I just needed to restart the PC.

Eric
There is sometimes a glitch dl Workshop Scenarios, they sometimes do not install in the correct \content\route\specific route\scenarios folder but sometimes just install as a file in the \Content\route folder\ ie outside any specific route and outside any scenario folder.
Its rare but it does happen on occasion.
Maybe that is what is happening?

I just got around to a long ago request by David to run his workshop Virginia&Truckee route and it popped up with this message. I have all of this stuff. More mystery.
