SP SD45 Horn Bug

Unread postby ZekTheKid » Sat Sep 17, 2016 9:53 pm

Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but there is this bug with the SP SD45's horn by DTM. The end part is not present when I release the spacebar.
Here's a clip for what I'm talking about:

The end part is there, if you hold down the space bar for a long time.
I'd like to know how to fix this as well, so I can blip the horn.
It'd be nice if the sound on it was louder too.

The proxy works pretty much as the newer DTM DRGW GP35. The main horn does not loop and once finished it triggers the ending part.

The main horn loops on the SP SD45 or a person couldn't press and hold the space bar and have it sound the whole time. It's definitely the end part that doesn't always get triggered. It's like there is some kind of time element that doesn't get triggered, unless you blow the horn for a prolonged time period.

It can't be me, because the paths are correct in the proxyxml and it's reading the correct horn files.

So why don't you change it out for one of the eighteen thousand other horns available in the library?

I actually did that, and got the same result.

I'm no expert on horns but isn't it likely the proxyxml that is causing the problem not the recording?

Do you have the UP version? I'm not sure if this is the original horn or not on the UP version but I substituted that xml and bin into the SP version and now the horn works fine. If you don't have that holler and I'll send them to you.

I've always thought is was the bin or xml. I'd like to learn how and what is changed to make the timing right between the Start Loop and End recordings.

If he doesn't have the UP version, wouldn't that keep it from working? Or wouldn't that draw on the UP horn instead of the S.P. P3 in the SP SD45?

That file is generic and will play whatever recordings are present. I haven't compared these files but I know the substitution works. Now you have me wanting to look at this.

I was in error. I am now running some horn from I know not where. Something I did far enough back that I don't remember where they came from. Zek this probably won't work for you without these wav files I have.

The ending is actually playing. It's just a bad end sound is all that is. If you listen closely to the end you will notice the horn get louder (higher pitch?) then the loop. The end seems Uneven from the Loop is what i am trying to say.

If you hold the space bar down for a long time, the end will sound then. Or is it the button in the HUD?
I'm pretty sure on the SP SD45 the horn works best with the space bar.
That is another thing that puzzles me. On some locos, the horn works fine on the space bar, but not when using the HUD's horn button for some reason. Or visa versa.

So Buzz sent me the new proxyxml, and it works. Now all I have to do is find a proxyxml that includes the interior sounds.
