Repainting the freeware GP7

Unread postby RickKfoury » Thu Aug 04, 2016 6:27 pm

Hi all,

I was attempting to repaint the updated version of the freeware GP7 by David Brindley the other day and ran into a problem. When placing the unit in the editor, the updated texture is not present and all that shows up is the original scheme, as if no change. I followed the same process as usual, and there did not appear to be anything special about the .bin files. Not sure about this one!

Also, the repaints I formerly did of this unit are not showing up, the paint of the unit they were based off of appears instead. Perhaps this has something to do with graphic settings? Experimenting with them has had no effect.

Presuming you changed the bin file to the new name very carefully check the name of the new loco plus the lines down there at the geometry. Another way to check is put your new texture in another named loco and see if your new textures show up.

Re-reading your post it definitely is a settings thing. The nm version is for the high resolution and the nmc for the lower one. The high res one should be the 32bpp ARGB and the other one DXT3 format.

What have you changed Rick?

I changed the nmc as that is usually what works, and when I changed the nmc of existing units to the new texture nothing happened, so the nm must need to be changed. I'm having a little trouble converting the DDS to 33bpp ARGB however, can this be done in dxtbmp?

Yes. The choice you are looking for is: DDS 888-8 32bit
