Vanishing Signals

Unread postby nigproel1 » Mon Aug 01, 2016 4:58 pm

I have laid out a circuit based on Cincinnati Ohio, With runs out to outlying towns.
The route uses new and old existing track plus imaginary lines to form a Metro type run and freight from industry in the area.
I used signals from SMM USS NS and everything was fine for about three weeks of work.
Now I have lost the signals.
The track links are still there but no signals. There is a milk bottle where the physical sign should be,
when I select it, the popout shows all the details of the signal, even my setting of 10 for the visual part.
Does any one have any ideas?

Hello,

I just experienced the same thing, although I used the RCAP NS USR2 signals and it was months of work. All of the visual elements gone, and there are grey dots in the 2D map view where the signals used to be. And to add insult to injury, all the RCAP grade crossings were milk bottles too. And for some reason, I can't delete the grade crossing milk bottles...

Interestingly, when I ran RWTools and listed the assets used by the route, none of the RCAP signals were listed *!question!*

So, something went seriously sideways. I deleted the signal milk bottles (had to use the 2D map to find them all), and I am going to start the signalling process over again.

I can't say for sure if something happened to the actual assets themselves (although I didn't notice anything obviously missing and I didn't get any missing assets errors from RWTools). So since I am at a point where I have all the locomotives, rolling stock and scenery that I really want - I am going to backup my assets folder, and not make any changes to the assets I have. No new assets, no deleting assets. I will back up the assets, and if the new signals go away again I can at least restore the asset folders to see if the problem was with the assets themselves.

Sounds like a lot of work for a game... I must really like trains a lot.
