Mystery Train and I have been going back and forth about a problem with this re-paint. The horn does not work for him and we have been trying to figure out why. The bin file is using the default F7 horn and the UP version which is the default works for him. Both of them work for me and I was wondering if anyone else has this problem or can tell us if it's working for you if you have it so we can have some idea about where to look to solve this problem.

We are talking here of a horn aliasing if I understood.
The modified (repaint) engine bin calls the sound driver file, normally of name horn sound bin or something alike (I am not in my computer to check the UP F7). It is done from either a child (most likely) or directly a line of control code.
I am not sure it is correct aliasing from the engine bin, though.
The horn sound driver is where I do my all my aliasing by changing the proxy path. Therefore it is needed to duplicate that horn driver and placed in the audio file RailVehicles for the repaint loco (you know the drill).
The path starts with the provider name (Kuju in this case) with no "/". I sometimes have added the / and I did not get the horn to sound.

I just downloaded the L&NF7 and installed as per the readme.
The keyboard horn does not work but the rope puller cab control works OK.
The UP is OK.
It seems like a problem with the mapper.
I will take a look into the files.

EDIT. It is not that Space doesn´t work in the L&N, but none of the keystrokes does. !*don-know!*

Very strange. I just re-checked and all keystrokes A-D, W-S, Space, B, H, and the brake sets all work just fine.
I have accumulated 39 repaints of the F7 in the default folder and I don't recall ever having a problem with any.

Yes, very strange. I have installed the Wabash F7 and it is working fine. It is placed in the same folder as the L&N.

I have tried for about three hours and can´t find why the engine files are not reading the mappers.
Kuju has the engines in the RailSimulatorUS folder while all input mappers are in the RailSimulatorCore folder.
I don´t know if the fact that existing SPRR file names are being reused for the L&N, will have something to do with the issue.

There are also those NEWR folders in the Diesel folder.

I may try again tomorrow.

The Wabash ones were drawn from the same set that the L&N ones were done from.

Yes. I have compared the A units bins and have not found anything different.
After I posted above I observed that in the L&N not only there is a mapping issue but some of the HUD buttons are not working properly.
I will check it again tomorrow.

I am also finding that in addition to the horn and bell not working, I've also found that the sander, windshield wiper, and headlights will not work on both of my L&N F7's.

The throttle controls do work fine, and I can get the engines to move.
Keep on chugging,
Steve

Steve,
Do you have the NERWCabviews folder installed in your Kuju\RailsimulatorUS\RailVehicles\Diesel folder?

Buzz,
In my case your NERW folders are indeed located in the Diesel folder with the right path folder structure.
I tried to remove them and I tried to install them along the engine bins. In both cases the views and other items did not work, so I got them back to the diesel folder.

There may be something else in your folder structure (along the .AP package), a file or two that may be needed and that come from another of the other F7 you have installed or repainted/modified.

Those you mention are about the buttons which I have problems with.
However you can´t control the throttle with the keyboard (or any other) as if there wasn´t any mapper (obviously the mappers located in the Railsimcore folder are not called in some way).

Buzz,
The A unit (crew and non-crew) is making some calls to non existing folders (in my TS2016). In this case a NE folder under Default.
I believe they are from a previous repaint. Many of you including the author (Buzz) have that NE folder.

I have not tested anything I have just found these pieces of code:
Code: Select all

<AnimSet>
   <iAnimObjectRenderBlueprint-cAnimation d:id="74522544">
      <AnimationID d:type="cDeltaString">wipers</AnimationID>
      <AnimationName d:type="cDeltaString">Kuju\RailSimulatorUS\RailVehicles\Diesel\F7\Default\NE\wiper_r</AnimationName>
      <AnimateInEditor d:type="cDeltaString">eTrue</AnimateInEditor>
   </iAnimObjectRenderBlueprint-cAnimation>
</AnimSet>

Code: Select all

    <ScriptComponent>
      <cScriptComponentBlueprint>
         <Name d:type="cDeltaString">Kuju\RailSimulatorUS\RailVehicles\Diesel\F7\Default\NE\F7A_EngineScript</Name>
      </cScriptComponentBlueprint>
   </ScriptComponent>

By replacing that NE folder with the SPRR folder, the code should find both the wipers and the script.

I will keep looking at the code. **!!bang!!**

Or take the easy route and just install the NE locomotive.

Others may have the same issues as MysteryTrain and I have, So here I go.

Everything seems to be fixed:

I didn´t find anything else wrong and replaced \NE\ by \SPRR\ and everything is working right, both keystrokes and the HUD buttons. !!*ok*!!

Then I did the same job in the B unit which is aliased mostly to the UPRR unit. There the script file code calls a Milwaukee unit (folder) instead of NE. I replaced Milwaukee by UPRR. I hope you won´t have a different scripting for the B unit (in that Milwaukee folder).

The A NC unit has the same issues as the crewed unit so I repeated the same process as above.

I will be sending you (PM) a zip with the 3 modified bins. !!*ok*!!
