Can't place signals

Building a new route. Got basic track laid. Got ready to place signals but the game will not allow me to place any. I can select any one from the list, click on them and when I go to place them, they will not give me the "handles" (markers). When I right-click to release the signal where i want it, it disappears. I went back over all of the old tutorials. Pretty sure I am doing it right. Anyone got an idea or suggestion? I have re-started, verified etc. etc. !*hp*!

Hi Dru,

Which signals are you trying to place? The links ("handles") should show up automatically after placing the signal model on the ground.

The common placement process would be like this:
1) place signal model next to tracks
2) place first link next to signal, before switch
3) place next link on straight track past switch
4) place following links on all tracks branching off from here that the signal is protecting
5) right-click only after last link has been placed, if you right-click before, it will cancel the whole placement process

The "T" figure in the signal display name typically indicates number of track links past the switch that the signal will have. So, for example, you would use a 2H2T signal for a passing siding turnout.

Cheers
Michael

I am wanting to use the BNSF Short, One Head, One Track signals. When I choose it and place it by the tracks, the handles (links) never appear. Instead, another signal appears. It's like it's stuck on "repeat" or copy and paste. I noticed last night that it's doing this with certain, not all scenery items as well. I tried to place a water tower by the tracks and it did the same thing. When I right-clicked to release it, it disappeared. My resolution is set on 10.

News Flash! I finally figured out what I was doing wrong. It's been about two years since I tried building a route and I had forgotten a few things. I forgot that you have to rotate the signal first before the handles will appear. All is well on the Louisiana Railway & Navigation Aloha Branch! *!lol!*
