Empty Text Boxes: Amtrak Dash 8-32BWH

Unread postby Antwerp » Sun Mar 06, 2016 7:05 pm

After purchasing this fine locomotive, I noticed a particular issue that is mildly irritating.

Watching one of FanRailer's videos, the first 3 boxes in images 1&2 are for HEP. No Text.

Image 3 is after pressing Ctrl+D for Cab Signals. Again no text, and Cab Signals won't toggle off. Does not work on any route.

Image 4 is after pressing Ctrl+F for the Alerter. Again no text.

I have Cleared the Cache, Verified the Cache, and Uninstalled and Reinstalled the DLC. Anybody else having this issue?

Any chance you could provide images in which those "text boxes" are actually visible? Perhaps another "defect" of this model is the lack of a cab light?

I turned off the cab lights since it tanks my frames about 50%.

Okay: I can now see the boxes and these is text clearly visible in them. So now, I'm confused about the nature of the problem -- or peculiarity -- or whatever. !*don-know!*

My text boxes are empty. The ones with the text in them are from videos on YouTube which are working properly.

The problem, is my boxes are broken.

Very odd. Do these boxes work normally on other stock that uses ACSES and ATC, such as the NJT locomotives?

Yes, having that I own all the NJT DLC. Does the HEP Button on the P32BWH affect engine performance or the passenger view lights? By my knowledge it does not affect the engine RPMs.

I believe I was asking Antwerp? And no, the HEP doesn't effect anything. Not quite sure why it's even included on the model.

I don't own anything that uses ACSES and ATC, so I can't really check.

Ditto. Sounds like you need to call The Verifier!

I agree. The tachometer says it's running at 400 rpm at idle but the literature says with the HEP that it should be running at either 720 or 900 rpm. I'm not sure what the sound is telling us since I'm not familiar with these guys. Most of what we see here on the racetrack are the whatever F40's and they are running pretty much full RPM of 916 all the time. They are nicknamed the screamers for a good reason.

Well, I guess I will spend the next hour verifying the cache again.

Hopefully it fixes it this time around.

[EDIT] That managed to screw it up worse... The audio folder now reads as if everything is playable in Windows Media Player. **!!bang!!**

Young padawan you should only verify the item you have a problem not the whole enchilada. That way it only takes a few minutes before you go back to being frustrated. I suggest you uninstall the offending item and re-install it and see what happens.

Tried that twice. Fixed nothing.

Verifying is my last resort and that went swimmingly.

[EDIT] Have to System Restore back to this morning to hopefully fix the problem since Verifying the Cache to try to fix the folders just makes it worse. If this doesn't fix it, I'm toast.

[EDIT2] That seems to have fixed the folder issue. Now, if ANY of you recommend a cache verify to me again this forum will have to use its censor function. I nearly had a panic attack.
