Couldn't get the Train Simulator 2016 running

Unread postby cnbalasub » Thu Feb 11, 2016 7:17 pm

This is the fourth time I have tried today to click " Train Simulator " to play and end up with the message -- " TS2016 - v54.5b.dmp. in H:\TempDump\TempDump\TS2016 - v54.5b.dmp. " I am not sure what is the problem is. Anyway the program goes that far till " TS2016 - v54.5b Updating Scenario Database " appear on the bottom left of screen with Train Simulator 2016 logo " and nothing after that. How I can get this to fix the problem then be able to run the program of Train Simulator - 2016 on my desktop? I think that I clicked too many scenarios from the workshop in Train Simulator 2016 before goes on to simulate the route.

Your help would be appreciated

Thank you,

John

Have you tried to verify Steam cache?

This problem means you have a corrupt workshop scenario, or you have too many workshop scenarios.
I think verifying the cache won't fix this problem, but it's never a bad thing to do.

Anyway I did ran through " verify Steam cache " and doesn't help with this. I know I have to remove the scenarios but how? Because after the startup of Train Simulator 2016 -- got the loading screen of Train Simulator 2016 with the bottom left words -- TS2016 - v54.5b Updating Scenario Database. That's how I go that far and no way to get into the program. But I wonder if I can remove the workshop scenarios outside the program of Train Simulator 2016 or can't. If can't then tell me how to get into this program?

Thank you,

OK I did unsubscribed all the workshop scenarios for the route of Pacific Surfliner that I picked to subscribe earlier today. And the problem is still there. What I have read on the internet online that one possibility is with graphic card. I am not sure what to do with this? Mine is Asus AMD Radeon HD7700 2 GB graphic card and not have a problem for a good while with this graphic card. Guess that the only way is to uninstall and reinstall the program of Train Simulator 2016. But I will wait sometime till late tomorrow then go ahead to uninstall and reinstall the program on the weekend.

Finally I did unsubcribe all of the workshop scenarios and still make no difference with the program of Train Simulator. So what is your suggestion for this? I know that I have to submit a ticket to DoveTail Games but more likely I will have to wait till sometime next week about my ticket report from them.

Thank you,

John

When you verify cache, you sometimes have to repeat until no missing files are found. The greatest number of times I've had to do this in a single session is 3.

OK and will go with your suggestion to verify cache. Yes you're right about no missing files. I did not get even one missing file to show.

Will let you and others know about this.

OK over one hour I did verify Steam cache 4 times and every time the message said that " All files successfully validated. " But still cant get on the program of Train Simulator 2016 to simulate a scenario on any route that I have. I believe the last resort is to send a ticket to DoveTail Games Support to see what they have to say. But I did not like the idea because they don't reply right away and the last time I got the answer from them one week later.

I am not sure what to do at this moment to go ahead to uninstall and reinstall them or wait for a reply from DoveTail Games with my ticket sometime late next week.

In Windows explorer, navigate to Steam\steamapps\workshop\content.
Delete the 24010 folder.
Try starting the game again.

Chacal -- want to say thank you for the tip how to navigate to Steam\steamapps\workshop\content via Windows Explorer or File Explorer in Windows 10. Unfortunately I don't see any folder with " Workshop " with content in them. I am not sure why I don't have this? That is another question for not having the folder with " Workshop " with content in them in my program of Train Simulator 2016.

Thank you,

Guess that I will have to wait till early next week for my support ticket to see if DoveTail Games support can solve my problem. There is no other way to solve as we have try different things to see if my program of Train Simulator 2016 is up running again.

Thank you,

I don't have any such folder in that path either. I do have this folder in Steam\userdata\59997632. Perhaps this is the one chacal is talking about.

Buzz -- I found mine but not the same number that you have in your folder with " Steam\userdata\59997632. " Mine is " Steam\userdata\75108332 ". Now I check to see what folders are in that 75108332 folder and look below in order from top to bottom:

Folder with the name " 7 "
Folder with the name ' 760 "
Folder with the name " 24010 "
Folder with the name " config "
Folder with the name " ugc "
Folder with the name " ugcmsgcache "

Maybe that is the one chacal talking about to delete the folder with " 24010 " Will wait to see what chacal say about this to delete this folder. Anyway I have my DVD with Train Simulator 2016 setup plus data1.bin, data2.bin, data3.bin, dotnetfx, DXSETUP, and vcredist_x86. I wonder if I can install with the Train Simulator 2016 setup or not.

Your help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

John
