Just picked up the NY-NH route which has the subject loco. Noticed the bell & horn are tied together when activated by the space bar. I can't imagine the real loco bell & horn operate this way. Can anyone confirm this?

If you're talking about the bell coming on when you blow the horn, then yes, that's correct. Most modern locomotives today are built with this feature.
