TS2016: Going into the Store: immediate crash!

Unread postby _o_OOOO_oo-Kanawha » Thu Sep 24, 2015 5:32 am

On my fresh install from last week. When I enter the Store on the Trains or Routes tab, the game crashes immediately. I can browse the Marketplace however.

Can anybody confirm?

Not for me. Sounds like you got some corrupted files, mate.

Could very well be. But this is the fresh, virgin install from last week.

These front end files reside in Railworks\Data\Scaleform, right?

Who knows. I have a few problems in my fresh install as well, but not big a deal.

And I have no idea. Just verify your cache integrity if you're willing to erase all modifications. Otherwise... I dunno.

Complete verification is underway. Takes a while ....

FYI: this fresh, virgin install is only used for DLC and Workshop downloading. I took up the GMG offer and got the full TS2016 last week.
I renamed the old install into TS2015 and had Steam deliver a fresh TS2016 with all of my DLC.
I only play it for testing of new stuff and verification of other players problems. It is not hacked or modified in any way.

I keep a separate USA install which I play and hack around with at will and which is backed up nightly. It still uses the TS2014 menus, but is otherwise fully updated to TS2016.

Hence I didn't expect a corrupt .swf file in a brand new install, but since there have been numerous reports of the user interface screens staying black, being very slow or otherwise not working as expected, there could still be some bugs in the Flash files and their interaction.
AFAIK: the Store requires a live internet connection to display the latest offers and prices.

It's a local problem. Something didn't D/L properly. It works fine here.

I get it as well even after verifying files and clearing cache. Suspect it has something to do with what content you have purchased and installed since some people see it and others don't.

Confirmed, Diego. I did a full game verification through Steam, it re-acquired 5397 files for whatever reason, but no core files. Nor those .swf files in the Scaleform folder.
The game still crashes without warning when I open the Locos or Routes tabs on the Store screen.

So no more buying DLC directly from Railworks then !*don-know!* ?

There is something else afoot I suspect. Did you re-acquire until it said it didn't D/L anything? I have almost everything American plus quite a bit of Euro stuff. Have you tried running LogMate to see what it says?

Buzz, LogMate didn't record the crash, it is too sudden perhaps.
I get the usual LogMate errors about some providers not being present while the game parses the scenarios and trains and does some Workshop synchronisation. Opening the Store is OK, but when wanting to buy a new loco in the current sale, poof, the Store screen is gone.

The other computer, which has TS2012 updated through all the version till 2016 opens the Locos and Routes store departments OK and then freezes with a Temp dump.
It is the virgin TS2016 from last week that crashes.

Like you, I have almost all USA and many Euro and UK DLC, so I suspect there is some limit to what the store can display.
There could be thousands of other players with the same problem.

It seems like if it was a problem in the core game that you would have it on both of your installs and I would have it also. I have not heard anyone else reporting this although I don't go to the Steam forums.
