TS2016 crashing after uprade to purcheased steam edition

Unread postby CPRailfan34 » Mon Sep 21, 2015 8:29 am

I have been trying to check out railfan mode with little success and will start experimenting by playing the other routes. My game crashes when i play Sherman Hill. I will notify of any more issues that occur while playing TS2016. I do have a theory behind the game crashing in Sherman hill: a Conflict with Krellnut's older Pack. This could be corrected by simply uninstalling Krellnut's pack! not sure if this will work but it is worth a try! Buzz Ik you found out that DTG now utilizes Krellnut's pack by default now. Could you Help by experimenting with the sound pack conflict? I will notify if I get results. but first how do you uninstall a pack that was installed with an external installer?

I suppose Sherman Hill comes with packed assets.
If that's the case, you can delete everything outside of the .ap file.
But first I'd try a LCV in the Steam client.

There should be no conflict as the sound is now part of the Sherman Hill D/L you got. The locomotives and wagons are merely looking at a different place using the bin files with 2016. Your old WJ Sound is still valid and still being used by other rolling stock so you don't want or need to delete it. If you continue to have problems with Sherman Hill I would suggest going into the Library and unchecking Sherman Hill restart, then exit again and recheck it, then exit and re-start Steam and that should cause it to reload Sherman Hill for you. I suspect something is amiss in your D/L.

ok I have run a test with all the railfan routes and can confirm it is Sherman hill that is crashing TS2016. Thanks for the tip Buzz! I'll give it a try and refresh sherman hill.

After doing a few scenarios on Sherman Hill I have narrowed down the issues to audio in Sherman hill, I had the scenarios working just fine, but this was with the game audio glitched out and off. I'll have to check the audio files to see if anything is missing.

I have done a reinstall of railworks, and no prevail i think it is my old laptop as it still runs Vista. So i think it is time to get a newer Asus brand laptop with a quad core, but not right now, I'll wait till Boxing day to get one. However the game still runs on other routes.I'm officially stumped, even a reinstall didn't fix the issue

That I didn't know! It runs the other routes fine with no hiccups, it's just Sherman hill that is giving me issues. Besides I don't have the space for a desktop at the moment. I may have figure out why it's crashing though, it might be because Sherman hill now uses Krellnut's sounds and I don't have it checked in the route. If I check the sounds it might start working. The newer laptop I'm thinking of purchasing at a later date is the Asus X550Z, it comes with an AMD A8 quad Coe processor and has a Radion graphics card with just as much power as the CPU. A nice setup if you ask me. I will purchase it when one goes on sale during Boxing Day.

TS2012 worked smoothly on my father's Amtrak HP laptop, though they are beefier. It just depends on how powerful the system is.

Yup my old laptop just can't keep up anymore so that is why I am going with the Asus X550Z it's got tons of power compared to my old laptop. I am currently saving up for the new laptop now.
