Trouble on the NEC

Unread postby GeorgeUK » Wed May 13, 2015 7:14 am

When I play scenarios, ususally by Elphaba's workshop, on the Northeast Corridor route, the sim usually crashes/freezes some time into the scenario.

My PC is fairly powerful, and routes such as London-Brighton, WCML North, WCML over Shap, GEML, ECML, Marias Pass and Surfliner all run without fail or even much stuttering. Is the NEC especially demanding, or is it just unstable?

The NEC in question is the New York-Philadelphia one, I don't have New Haven yet.

It's an old and outdated route. It crashes for me also. I hardly play it anymore.

There are a few "trouble spots" where the route suddenly and consistently freezes as it loads more scenery tiles. If it look like it's frozen, it could be that, in which case just wait until it resumes. It doesn't happen often, so I can live with it.

Happens to me on that route also. Sometimes it takes between 3 to 5 mins to start running again. DTG were notified about this when it first came out but, nothings been done about it.

When I drive through Metropark it almost always freezes and crashes! Also quite often when placing the AEM-7on the tracks.

I've spent a lot of time on the NEC Philly-NY in the past few months. Never had an out-and-out crash. It does stutter in a few heavily congested places. Never tried it with workshop scenarios per the OP, only stock scenarios and those I've created myself - all free roam. I've also cloned the route and turned it into a freight operations route, adding considerable DLC, more conveniently located switches to better access yards, etc. I've run 60-70 car freights on it without crashing, just get the occasional stuttering in the usual locations. So for me, it's been a pretty stable route.
