Why won't the Sim Start!?

Unread postby JohnS » Fri Mar 06, 2015 11:34 am

3_6_15.txt

I attached my log file in hopes that someone can shed some light on this situation. I have been trying to play a scenario for the NY to NH but it dumps to the desktop. I read the log and it says that it can't find the Kuju core blueprint or the camera and right at the dump it reads that it can't find the RWA RS-1 Blueprint. Why in the world would it want to load that? I have been having this same problem off and on. I'm tired of when I want to play I can't and spend my time trying to figure out why it won't load. Then when it finally loads I don't have the time to play anymore. !*not-ok*!

Thank you
John

Duplicate Scenario GUID in SerializeDatabase

Here's your problem.

Let me explain:
The database mentioned in the message is the scenario database, which keeps track of which scenario goes with which route, which scenario has been completed (a green tick mark), etc. The game uses it to present you with a list of routes and scenarios that you can play.

Each route and each scenario must have a unique ID called a GUID. It is the long string of letters and numbers that is used as folder names Inside the Railworks/Content folder.

Your problem is you have two scenarios with the same GUID. That is verboten.
The cause of this may be:
- you have copied a scenario from one route to another route (e.g. in Windows explorer);
- you have installed a scenario manually and dropped it in the wrong folder;
- you have two versions of the same route (e.g. a scalerail version and a regular version, or the RWA Lakeside route and one of its clones), and they have duplicate copies of scenarios.

The solution is too find and delete the duplicate(s).
Of course it would have been helpful if the log had contained the duplicated GUID, but I guess the programmer was feeling lazy that day.

That's odd that it would just suddenly happen. I only have the one version of the RWA route. As for the scalerail routes I used the clone scenario tool then moved the clones. I will start looking for duplicates then.

I am trying to load a scenario that my son wrote. The first time I tried to load it, I got an error message saying I was missing one file. I acquired the needed car and installed it, and now every time I tried to run the scenario I get the following "Failed to save dump file to C:\TempDump\TS2015-V50.5a.dmp (error 0)"

Can anyone tell me what the problem is and how to correct it?

First thing to try is the obvious: remove the scenario. If the sim starts normally, you've isolated the problem. If not, do a verify of local game cache in Stem.
Next, try starting the scenario while Logmate is running (search RWA for how to do this). There should be clues in the log about the problem.
