Consist editor is crashing

I have no idea why but just within the last week the consist editor has been causing the game to crash when I place anything in the consist. When I set down a piece of rolling stock I get a blank box where the stock should be with the blue loading circle for longer than usual and then I get a notification that Railworks.exe has stopped working correctly.
I would like to know if anyone else has started having this issue with their copy of Train Simulator as of late?

No. You have some other problem. Start with a verify.

Just verified the game cache. 1280 assets failed to initialize! I've never seen a number that high when verifying the cache.
Well this'll take all day to redownload. There goes a day's worth of work.

All day for 1280 assets?? What kind of connection do you have? I can dl a 30 gig game in less than an hour.

Depends on what part of the house I'm in. When I've done a full re-install it takes all day. Somehow today it actually took a couple of hours.

I still have bad news, I'm afraid. The consist editor is still crashing. It's no real biggy for me - I barely use it anyway.

I suspect your problem may be the stock you are trying to load and not the consist editor. Can you tell me what item (or 2-3 items) are causing the problem?

The most recently with the UP F7 that came with Cajon Pass. I feel bad for saying this, but it happened first with the FEF-3 in Overland livery. Let me try with something completely different and see if it's a consistent problem.

Just tried it by selecting the Tornado A1 locomotive. Crashed the editor again. Quite a mystery on my end

I haven't had the regular scenario or route editors crash but have had them mysteriously delete consists for no apparent reason.

Well that certainly is the question. I'm not exactly sure where to begin looking for answers. I'm convinced because of past experience that DTG tech support more than likely will not be of much help.

I don't have the FEF-3 yet but I'll test the other two in the morning and see if they work for me.

Every time I do a verify cache after playing the game, it says 4000+ files need to be re-acquired.

EDIT: Did a verify just now and it said 4023 files, 72.0 MB

I guess that's not too unusual to see a constant number of files missing during verifies.

I'd like to go on record saying that I do not believe the FEF-3 repaint has anything to do with this recent development. The editor's freezing on all stock in the consist editor.
