Tracks.bin?

Hey guys!
I've recently installed FanRailer's physics upgrades for the Surf Line including the Surfliner, Coaster and Metrolink. Something that I've noticed since installing these upgrades is that on all the Surfliner scenarios, all the Coaster scenarios and one of the Metrolink scenarios when the scenario loads I get a pop-up message saying "The following files failed to initialize: -Tracks.bin-" and I have the option of either leaving or editing the scenario. This never happened before installing the mods. I verified my game cache which reverted all the models to their original states and the scenarios worked. I re-installed the mods and the same error occured. This is baffling to me because in quick drives and standard scenarios everything still works but it's just with the included career scenarios that this -Tracks.bin- error occurs. !*hp*!

Has anybody else had this problem?

In order to preserve integrety of the career scenarios, which can be used competitively by those so inclined, the scenario is checksummed and checks the tracks.bin's checksum as well. Apparently, it doesn't report a checksum error in that piece of rolling stock, instead it reports the tracks.bin.

So if you mod a piece of rolling stock, career scenarios using it won't run anymore. Steam thinks you might be cheating. *!twisted!*

You'll have to convert the career scenarios to standard to be able to play them using modded rolling stock or an edited tracks.bin.

So that's what that's all about. Good to know. With the release of the BNSF ES44DC, Metrolink F59PH and Coaster F59PHI packs I think it's about time those original scenarios got an update anyway *!!wink!!*

Yes and No.
Yes, you can't compete competitively.
But, a person can turn off scoring in the main menu settings, or you can hit "F2" and then "Save" after the error message pops up, which will let you play the scenario with the mods installed. You still won't be able to compete in the career system though.

Wait, do you mean in the scenario editor after the message pops up?

I don't get competitive in the career scenarios. Back in 2014 I turned the scoring off anyway so I don't mind not having my scores posted for all the world to see *!greengrin!*

What I'm saying has nothing to do with the scenario editor.
You should be able to fire up a career scenario and then hit "F2" and then "Save" and play the scenario. (after the error message shows up)

Finally, an answer I can use. I've hosed three career scenarios, and I realize after reading this that it was changes to the WIP locomotive after I initially placed it in the scenario that corrupted it. Might be a good idea to finish the beast first before playing with it.
