I get white hills on the "Climbing Over Cajon" scenario on Cajon Pass. I've applied the UKTS "fix" but it hasn't made any difference.

This is particularly confusing since the route properties says to use Kuju RailSimulatorUS TimeofDay however that folder is empty so I'm not sure where it's looking. I have got the Autumn file changed in the plain RailSimulator TimeofDay with my fix and it seems to be working. Try this. It goes into Kuju\RailSimulator\TimeOfDay folder. See if that fixes it. And then put the just plain Autumn in the RailSimulatorUS\TimeOfDay. This is edited from my original post after Bob pointed out my error.

It seems to work with my settings.

Just a FYI here is what I have found so far is between Michael and Bob the boss I have puzzled out that you can get rid of the white mountains by messing with the TimeOf Day files. Unfortunately as usual these things are in the Kuju folder for many of our third party routes but as usual RSC has them scattered all over the place in the various route files. Still working to make sure this is the hot deal.

Here's some pictures of HSC with the change and without. This may take some tinkering yet.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I find I have three sets of TimeofDay files in Assets\Kuju:

In RailSimulatorCore they are called Core_Autumn.bin etc. These are the ones that the Richard Maxted fix replaces.

In RailSimulator they are called RW_Autumn.bin etc.

In the RailsimulatorUS\RailsimulatorUSAssets.ap file they are called Autumn.bin etc.

I have the Richard Maxted fix installed.

I tried Buzz' RW_Autumn.bin in RailSimulator and then undid the change, renamed Buzz' file and put it in RailsimulatorUS\TimeofDay. Neither of these got rid of the white hills.

Just a thought - the Richard Maxted fix replaces both TimeofDay and Weather files in RailSimulatorCore. Is it possible that to get rid of the white hills on Cajon both the TimeofDay and the Weather files in RailSimulatorUS have to be tweaked?

Hmm. I did the same thing to the Kuju that I did to the HSC one and it worked there. The Cajon Route says it's using the RailSimulatorUS TimeOfDay.

The second file called Autumn is not the same as the RW_Autumn so you can't just rename it I don't think. Now that I look that (Autumn) is the one that should change the white mountains. The RW one should not affect Cajon Pass.

Buzz
What does that TSX_Autumn.bin in Cajon Pass do?
I have 81 of these Autumn.bin files in the various route/assets folders.

I've been digging around and thought I had found the answer, but that was not to be - maybe.

I ran the scenario on my DLC-only often-Steam-verified installation on another computer and the hills had colour. (Yes, that's how we spell it down here.)

So I looked in my DLC-only installation and noticed that Kuju\RailSimulatorUS contained only the RailsimulatorUSAssets.ap file, a Blueprints.pak file and a RailVehicles folder. (The latter contains the nuisance ES44AC and SD40-2 folders and contents that keep appearing and disappearing as I run a Steam file verify and then run TS2015.)

My Main installation contained the same plus fourteen other folders, including a TimeOfDay and a Weather folder. So my first step was to add "- modified" to the end of those two folder names to force TS2015 to use the ones in the .ap file. - NO DIFFERENCE

I then noticed that the .ap files had different dates, the DLC one was 2014-11-2 and the main installation one was 2013-12-3 so I copied the newer one over. - NO DIFFERENCE

I copied the whole Cajon Pass route folder over from the DLC-only installation. - NO DIFFERENCE

I copied the Assets\RSC\Cajon Pass folder over. - NO DIFFERENCE

I tried turning off Dynamic Lighting - THE HILLS HAD COLOUR!

So my theory is that it's the TSX_Autumn.bin etc. files in the Assets\RSC\Cajon Pass that are in play here. But why copying the filed over doesn't make a difference is a real puzzle.

I tried Buzz' new Autumn.bin in the RailSimulatorUS/TimeOfDay but the hills are still white.

Can you try your magic on the TSX_Autumn.bin in the RSC\CajonPass folder and see if that works?

I've been looking for more clues!

I moved the RailSimulatorUS folder in my main installation to one side and copied in the one from my DLC-only installation - COLOURED HILLS.

I then took out the DLC-only one, put back in the one with the extra folders - WHITE HILLS.

I then took out the TimeOfDay and Weather folders (presumably forcing TS2015 to use the ones in the .ap file which is the same .ap file as in my DLC-only installation) - WHITE HILLS

My conclusion is that the white hills are caused by something other than the contents of the TimeOfDay and Weather folders or perhaps in combination with the contents of the TimeOfDay and Weather folders.

Work today so this will have to wait until I get home but to answer your question I'm not sure nowadays since the route file says it's using the Kuju RailSimulatorUS TimeOfDay. All I have been doing is moving the distance and height way out for the fog entry so the weather file shouldn't have any effect unless I'm missing something.

What color are the terrain entries in the route's Environment\Terrain\Texturing file? If your route doesn't use distant textures, the texturing file controls the basic distant terrain color for Spring/Summer/Autumn (combined) and Winter (separately).
Cheers!
