They just wouldn't show up. I tried just the lights, lights and fittings... all kinds of things. I even tried the whole <Children> to </Children> from the UP loco. Whilst I wouldn't mind the ditch lights on the CSX loco, what I'm really trying to achieve is a line of headlights to extend the beam. I thought I could just add say 5 lights front and back then modify the positions like you've documented in your blog. Not really working so far.

I don't think adding ditch lights will help with what you are trying to do. I think you need to modify the properties of the light object itself (look at the BIN) to make it brighter. If you wanted to adjust the upward angle of the light then my blog will not cover that (at least not yet). Maybe MadMike can help.

As for the child objects not showing... you are probably missing a step. I am still working on the instructions on how to use all of the parts I made so maybe this is a good time to have you test it out to see if I didn't missing anything. If you are interested I will PM you with the details.

I've tried unsuccessfully to modify the light file. If I change any of the parameters they stop working. According to some guys on UK train sim you can't make the lights brighter but an American guy posted a pic where he created a scenario with stationary loco and placed a bunch of lights in a row about 20m infront of it. It's sufficed to say it looked amazing. I figured I could do the same thing but actually child them to the loco using the same headlight duplicated and reposition them.

Here's the pics...

It was lonewolfdon who made them. He's from around here isn't he?

They're not perfect but it'd make a good alternative if it is too difficult to modify the headlight.bin

I should really get on with the route, but I can't stand not figuring something out once I've started.

Yes I'm very interested. I'd like to use the GP15 model and repaint as the GP16 the CCRY uses and include ditch lights, step lights and improve light intensity. (the CCR GP16 doesn't actually have ditch light but my route is set in 2015 and flashing ditch lights have become mandatory on the line due to all the uncontrolled crossing and increased traffic). Man I love making up stories!

Hmmm.... It may be simpler if you make a clone of the UPY-588 strip off the strobe lights and remote control antenna, and repaint her.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Infact, I've already started on it. Only problem I've got so far is the numberboards but I'll figure it out.

Just trying to restore this loco in my collection and having the shadow problem again even after copying from UPY 588. Is it a TS2013 problem now?
