My question is that which exe of Railworks should I create to desktop? 32 or 64-bit version.

Don't create a shortcut to the either of the .exe files. Open Steam and right-click Train Simulator. Click Properties. Underneath Launch Options is 'Create Desktop Shortcut'. Click that to create the shortcut. This is the shortcut you need. Open the Railworks folder. With the .exe files named correctly, click on 'Rename.bat'. You'll probably be prompted to verify that you want to run the .bat. Once the .bat file is ran, the desktop shortcut will open the 64-bit version and you won't be prompted to launch Steam. When Train Sim downloads an update, the .exe files will revert to default and you'll have to run the rename.bat again. I suggest making a backup of the 2 .bat files.

You will need to start Steam first before running that .bat file. As mentioned above, Steam must be running on your computer prior to starting either version of Train Simulator 20xx. You can setup Steam so that it automatically runs when you start your computer. If you do that then when you run the .bat file, your preferred version of TS20xx will start.

As someone else mentioned above, you can add the Steam startup within the .bat file but I think you will have to enter a delay in the .bat file to give Steam time to start. If you don't, then you will get the same message asking you to login to Steam first.

Thank you and I decided not to bother with bat files and just go to click Steam on taskbar then choose 64-bit version to run the simulator of Train Simulator 2021. That will save me trouble and time to waste with this.

If you launch Train Sim from the default shortcut (either created when TS was installed or created in Steam as mentioned in my earlier post), Steam does not have to be running. When you click the shortcut, Steam will launch, then open the sim. The default shortcut looks for Railworks.exe, the 32-bit version. If Railworks64.exe is renamed Railworks.exe, then the 64-bit version will launch. My Rename.bat file simply reverses the names of the .exe files. The Rename-undo.bat renames the .exe files correctly. I've used the .bat files shown in my previous post since shortly after the 64-bit version came out. As I also said in my previous post, if Train Sim is updated (a major update at least), or I do a Verify Integrity of Game Files, the .exe files are overwritten and I have to run the rename.bat again.
