Have you run a cache verify on the game? That can take a while also particularly if you are having internet issues but maybe some file got messed up that this will find.

I've done this a few times but each time it just found a single file that was messed up and I think that file was a font file. I remember copying the font files over to my PC's font folder for use in my videos, but now I can't find them to remove them.

Edit: Yeah I might have messed up the font files. After all this is not the same font I saw when I last played Railworks.

That sounds like a pretty good candidate for your problem.

I was just looking at the Config file and saw that the game is using Verdana and Arial fonts while in the data folder those fonts are not even in there. Not only that but the font files that are in the data folder are BreeSerif-Regular, Exo-Bold, and Exo-Regular so I guess it is the config file that got messed up.

Yeah I can wait. I have a bunch of other games that I can play (Over 130 to be exact) and I am working out some minor details on an upcoming video for my YouTube channel. I just don't really know why the game decided to do this. It just seems to be with the menus as the driving seems normal (apart from the use of a different font). It was just something I wasn't expecting.

Well... After a clean install on a brand new harddrive the game still refuses to show any text. By now I have learned that my Config.xml file has been damaged in some way and it's telling the game to look for fonts that are not in the game's font folder. Nothing else seems to be wrong with the game. It is running just fine. The problem seems to be with the Config.xml file.


I've just about had it with this. I do a YouTube series called "Railworks Sundays" and now I can't even get into a quickdrive because the menus are screwed up. I need help and fast.

And you have installed the font file I sent you? If so and it didn't work I will send you my config xml and see if that works.

Yeah I just checked the folder, I have everything. Now it looks like the config.xml file is the problem, however I'm just spitballing here.

Another person on the Steam forums said that it looked like an old drivers issue. Keep in mind that the previous NIVIDA Update I had failed to download properly and as a result may not have installed correctly.

Because I'm worried that once I completely uninstall my NIVIDA Drivers that I might screw something up. I never mess with my computer's drivers. I just download and install the latest driver over the older ones. This mainly comes from my brother's tendency to mess with the bios just for fun.

You don't need to uninstall anything. If you get a newer driver just D/L it and hit the exe. It will take care of replacing the old one with the new one. About the only thing you might have to do is restart the computer.

There is an option with Nvidia drivers to do a clean install just click custom install and it will uninstall old drivers getting rid of all traces of old drivers..but if he just installing drivers on top of drivers his problems are just beginning and he also has to watch out for windows update as well because it will install drivers on top of drivers as well

I have never had this problem. Tell us more about it? Every new driver I have ever D/L from NVidia uninstalls the old driver before installing the new one.
