Duplicate Dialog ID Error

Unread postby Shortliner » Thu Sep 22, 2011 8:38 pm

So I downloaded TS2012, and even when I verify my files twice, I keep getting this error.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Maybe you have two instances of the program running. Check your task list, or just reboot to make sure.

That didn't work. I checked the task list and rebooted my machine.

I've tried everything from verifying cache to clearing the blueprint cache, nothing is working.

Are you playing in offline or online mode?

Well apparently due to a bug in Steam, I can't go offline now either.

This whole thing is starting to pee me off.

I had originally thought the issue was with online vs offline - I guess some will have to wait for a posted workaround or an update from RSC. *!sad!*

The only thing I can think of that could be causing this was when I backed up my entire RW2 folder and then installed TS2012. However, the backup didn't go so well, so I deleted the back up and then did a verify cache on my TS2012 folder, and then downloaded TS2012. Then after I got all of that mess done, I tried to start up TS2012 and started getting this error.

Have a look through this thread at UKTS - perhaps a solution is there...

Already tried all of those things, still getting the error. Already tried everything on RSC.com Troubleshoot FAQ. Whatever this problem is, it can't be solved by updating drivers or clearing cache.

What I would try: Backup your custom content, routes, assets. Delete EVERYTHING from your Steam folder except the Steam.exe file and that odd-named "license" file (that one verifies your pc; saves re-confirming it through email). Reboot! Run Steam.exe and let everything reinstall.

Because I have multiple installations of Steam/RW on my machine, I had some funny issues yesterday, too (no error message, but Steam couldn't seem to get my user ID straight or something). Finally, deleting, rebooting, and reinstalling my entire main installation from scratch got everything working perfectly. Don't skip the REBOOT. Some components (such as the .Net and possibly some registry entries) are not unloading from memory correctly so REBOOTING between troubleshooting steps is VITAL!

Well Steam just got done reinstalling and now TS2012 is reinstalling. I saved all my asset, content, source and DEM files though. :)

It probably couldn't hurt running CCleaner at this point: http://download.cnet.com/ccleaner/ Run both the normal cleaner, then run the Registry tool. Backup the Registry first.
