Switching cabs?

Unread postby OldProf » Tue Jun 20, 2017 2:24 pm

I am ashamed of myself! After years of scenario writing, I've taken a couple of months off to drive TSW and now find that I cannot remember simple things in TS2017.

Here's my problem: I'm writing a scenario for the B&O Kingwood Branch route in which the engineer at Kingswood assembles a train of empty gondolas: Engine - empty gons - engine - caboose. The purpose of this unusual formation is that the goal is to drop off empty gons at three different mine sites, two of which have to be entered from the east (the train's direction of travel) and one from the west. The idea is that the engineer can switch cabs as needed to drop the unneeded engine, drop empty gons using the other engine, reassemble the train and move on.

On the first test run, I reached the first engine drop-off point, at Snider, and realized that I couldn't remember how to switch to the rearmost engine's cab! I know that there's a key combination that accomplishes this, but what is it? I tried using the change engine icon on the F1 display, which seemed to put me in the cab I wanted, but the train was still being controlled from the other engine.

I'm hoping that another experienced scenario writer will remind me how to do this simple task.

I think you need to be stationary with the brakes off in cab view.

This much I know: reverser in neutral and cab view, but brakes off? Doesn't seem right some how, but I'll give it a try. Thanks.

Is that a capital "I" or a lower case "l", Buzz? The problem lies in the font -- I thought we could change that. Ah! another mystery.

Doing that will move the external camera to the next rail vehicle, yes; it will not move from one cab camera to the next.

If you are in cab when you do it will switch to the other cab. At least it does here.
